CHICAGO, ILLINOIS: On Tuesday, April 4, Illinois Democratic Representative Jesus "Chuy" García took to Twitter to share a heartwrenching update about his family. The politician said that his foster daughter Rosa died at the age of 28 on Monday but he did not explain her cause of death.

Garcia’s tweet read, “Last night our beloved daughter, Rosa, passed away at the age of 28. Our family is completely heartbroken. Rosa joined our family as a young girl who had been in the foster care system. We did our best to provide a stable, loving, and welcoming home for her. Our family asks for privacy and welcomes your thoughts and prayers during this most difficult time.”

'May her memory be a blessing'

As per reports, the Chicago political stalwart is the biological father of two sons — Samuel and Jesus – whom he shares with his wife Evelyn Garcia. Rosa was his only daughter. The tragic news attracted a lot of condolence messages on Twitter with Former National Press Secretary for Bernie Sanders, Briahna Joy Gray, saying, “I'm so sorry for your loss.”

The account Israel in Chicago tweeted, “We’re heartbroken to hear about Rosa’s passing. Keeping your family in our thoughts today. May her memory be a blessing.” Human rights lawyer Yasmine Tae wrote, “I'm so incredibly sorry for your immense loss, Congressman. Keeping you and your family in my thoughts and prayers.”

A user posted, “I would like to express my condolences on the passing of your daughter. It is horrible for any parent to go through such a thing. I may not agree with you on the mayoral race, but that does not mean that I do not wish you comfort and well being in such a difficult time.” Another user stated, “I pray for your family in this time of loss and grief. Sending my deepest condolences to all mourning the loss of your daughter Rosa.” “I'm truly sorry for the loss of your precious daughter. Praying for peace and comfort for your family during this heartbreaking time,” the third one noted.

“Congressman Garcia, I am so sorry for your loss. My condolences go out to you, your family and friends,” the fourth one said. Whilst, the fifth one added, “My condolences to you and your family during this season of loss and sorrow. Be encouraged God is still able to keep and sustain you all even now. Bless Your Spirits.”

“My deepest sympathies to you, your family, and to all whose lives Rosa touched, Congressman,” a tweet read written below Garcia's statement. Another tweet stated, “My deepest condolences to you and your family on the passing of your beloved daughter, @RepChuyGarcia.”
