Trump in a spot as Hunter Biden set to appear in first TV interview since impeachment launch

Trump, at a recent rally, had mocked Hunter and the channel saying he will be asked only 'softball' questions.

Democratic presidential runner Joe Biden’s son Hunter is set to appear on ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’ on October 15 in a frank interview, the channel announced on Monday, October 14. The 49-year-old Hunter found himself in the midst of an ugly political battle between President Donald Trump and the Democrats, along with his father. Trump had attacked both the Bidens over their alleged links in countries in Ukraine and China and the Democrats launched a formal impeachment inquiry against him in September following a whistleblower complaint that he sought foreign probe against the Bidens to allegedly derail Joe’s presidential campaign.

While Trump has found himself at the receiving end in the matter with the Democrats and their supporters accusing him of misusing power to score political points at home, the Bidens haven’t found it easy either. Their foreign links have come up in discussion time and again and on Monday, both the father and son came up with decisions to nullify the pressure which is building on them. While Hunter has decided to quit the board of the Chinese private equity firm he was a part of at the end of the month, Joe announced at a rally that he will not allow any of his family member or associate to hold any position in a foreign body if he is elected the president next year.

Trump, who recently blasted Hunter at a rally, mocked both the channel where Hunter will be appearing as well as the man himself, tweeting: “Tomorrow they will ask softball questions to Sleep Joe Biden's son, Hunter..."

Hunter, the second son of Joe who had professional links with an energy firm in Ukraine when his father was the US vice president, sat with ABC News’ Amy Robach this weekend at his residence in Los Angeles for an exclusive interview and no issue was left untouched. It will also be the first time that Hunter will be speaking after the launch of the impeachment procedure against Trump.

“We spoke there at his home in Los Angeles for an exclusive interview and no questions were off-limits. We talked as you might imagine in depth about his business dealings in Ukraine, China and his reaction to President Trump's rally and tweets", she said.

Trump targeted Hunter at a rally in Minneapolis last week as part of his defense strategy asking where is he and asked his supporters to sport a new T-shirt with the same question printed on it.

Hunter was away from the spotlight for sometime before the Ukraine scandal broke. Joe said Hunter would join him in his campaign though he did not give any date. He spoke to the New Yorker magazine in July about his work in Ukraine and China, his days of addiction and the new marriage. Inconsistency was though seen over versions of whether the father-son duo had talks over the latter’s foreign dealings.

It has now come down to the interview to know more about the man and his thoughts.
