SULLIVAN COUNTY, TENNESSEE: Local law enforcement authorities have found human remains on a property at the Blountville's 500 block of Muddy Creek Road, that they believe could be the remains of missing child Evelyn Boswell.

15-month-old Boswell went missing on December 16, 2019, but her mother Megan Boswell did not report her missing until late February. The property where the remains were found on Friday, March 6, belongs to a family member of the mother, according to reports.

Law enforcement issued an amber alert for Boswell on February 19 and received hundreds of tips."None, however, has produced any credible sightings regarding the whereabouts of Evelyn Boswell. During the investigation, authorities have received a number of conflicting statements. That, combined with the fact that Evelyn was not immediately reported missing,  makes this a complicated case," they said in a statement.

The mother was charged with one count of False Reporting and was being held in the Sullivan County Jail on a $25,000 bond. Sheriff Jeff Cassidy had expressed his frustration earlier in a news conference after Megan changed her story multiple times about Evelyn's disappearance. She had earlier claimed that she knew who had her daughter but couldn't say anything in fear that Evelyn would disappear. She had claimed she left her daughter with someone from work.

Tommy Boswell Sr, who is Evelyn Boswell's grandfather, had told News Channel 11 earlier that he had reported her missing in February to the Department of Children’s Services."I don’t know what happened, but I’m the one who called DCS and got this started…I ain’t slept nights, I’ve cried like a baby. I just want my grandbaby to come home,” Boswell Sr. said. At the time, law enforcement had said that the child had been last seen by a babysitter around December 10 or 11.

An autopsy is pending and the investigation remains ongoing, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said in a statement.
