Hulu's 'Looking for Alaska' trailer is finally here but 'disappointed' fans find it quite underwhelming

At this point we don't have the full picture yet, so we'll agree to not judge a series by its trailer.

The first full-length trailer for the upcoming Hulu original 'Looking for Alaska' based on John Green's bestselling book of the same name is out. A shorter teaser dropped earlier, warning fans of the book of a downpour of tears when the series finally drops, but if the latest trailer is to be taken into consideration, fans are underwhelmed.

The story chronicles the life of Miles 'Pudge' Halter (Charlie Plummer) who goes to a new boarding school "to seek a greater perhaps". There he meets and falls in love with the straight-out-of-every-teen's-fantasy, Alaska (Kristine Froseth), who loves books, cigarettes, and white lilies. Miles meets Alaska through his roommate, the 'Colonel' (Denny Love), and thus ensues their weekly shenanigans involving alcohol and cigarettes at the boarding school. Alaska loves pranks and her very hot boyfriend, Jake, so things don't really go well for the hopelessly in love Miles aka 'Pudge'. With quite the devastating plot twist in the middle of the story, Miles's love for Alaska becomes an exploration of figuring out who she really is behind that gorgeous facade of all things perfect.

But as riveting as the story sounds, with Miles's mysterious love for the last words of famous people and Alaska's obsession with rose and white lilies, the trailer, sadly, has failed to live up to fans' expectations. Since the release, fans have remarked on social media how they felt about the trailer, and from ruining the entire plot to Froseth's very strange way of pronouncing Bolivar (she makes it sound like boulevard, honestly), the problems that fans have with the upcoming show are aplenty.

"The Looking for Alaska trailer is terrible and I'm not going to watch it and have my favorite book ruined for me," wrote Twitter user @queergrape, a reaction that resonates with many fans. Another user @librilynn tweeted the harsh reality of growing up with the book and now being too old to overlook the minor flaws in the trailer saying: "I saw the trailer for looking for Alaska for the first time and idk if I’m excited or unimpressed. I remember reading this book in high school and crying but idk if it has the same appeal to me. I’m still gonna watch the movie though."

Other fans complained about how their entire picturization of the plot was ruined by the trailer, as user @youfeenmylife said: "Like I read the book and I don’t even know what’s going on in this trailer. Also, it’s nothing that I pictured when I read it but whatever I’m still gonna watch it. actually Alaska is the only thing that resembles what I saw in my head." But the biggest problem with the trailer that Twitter user @ImaginationGone pointed out was how "they completely ruined the entire story literally with the Looking for Alaska trailer. Why don't companies know how to make good trailers? Why spoil literally everything that makes a story? Hulu is probably just pandering to John Green fans and whoever's read the book"

As a hardcore defender of all things 'Looking for Alaska' no matter how cliche, all that can really be said at this point is we don't have the full picture yet. Never judge a series by its trailer, I guess.

'Looking for Alaska' premiers on October 18 only on Hulu.
