How did Ra’Miyah Worthington die? One-year-old girl found dead outside daycare in Nebraska
OMAHA, NEBRASKA: A hot car outside a daycare center in Omaha, Nebraska, claimed the life of a one-year-old girl named Ra’Miyah Worthington, on Monday, while the city experienced temperatures of 96.8 degrees Fahrenheit. An employee of Kidz of the Future Child Development Center found Worthington in a van and called 911 at around 3 pm local time.
The van belonged to the owner of the daycare center, according to multiple reports. Omaha police said they have arrested the driver of a daycare van for child abuse by neglect resulting in death. The driver was identified as Ryan Williams, 62, as per Wowt.
CPR fails to revive Ra’Miyah
First responders gave CPR to Ra’Miyah during the journey to the Nebraska Medical Center, but they could not resuscitate her.
She was in critical condition when she arrived at the hospital. The baby girl’s temperature had reached 109 degrees Fahrenheit, her parents, Sina Johnson and Rianna Worthington, said.
They also said the van had transported Ra’Miyah and her two siblings to the daycare center earlier that morning.
The van involved is registered to the daycare owner. The other two children were removed from the van, however, Ra’Miyah was inside the car.
Parents question how daycare center forgot their child
“I’m not comprehending how this could have even possibly happened,” Worthington said in an interview with Omaha television station WOWT.
“My thing is how can you forget a kid that you yourself put into the vehicle?” he asked.
The parents said that the daycare center has an app to provide parents with updates about their children. They noticed that Ra’Miyah’s attendance wasn’t registered on the app that day.
“She was never checked in. Only one of the three kids we sent was checked in, so put two and two together. You had to have my baby left in this car since this morning,” Worthington said.

Ra’Miyah is remembered as a smiley child who loved dancing
Ra’Miyah was the youngest of six siblings and her family described her as being a smiley child who loved dancing.
“How do you forget one when you take two off the van? How did you forget my baby?” said her mother, Sina Johnson.
“She loved, loved, loved her family. She loved her daddy. She was daddy’s little girl,” Johnson shared. The Omaha Police Department has confirmed that investigations are ongoing.
The family has set up a GoFundMe page on behalf of Ra’Miyah’s mother, father, and five siblings. “Due to the negligence of her daycare provider, her family is forever scarred,” the page reads.
