HOUSTON, TEXAS: After a nail salon employee was shot, authorities in Harris County, Texas, were looking for two female suspects on Saturday, May 29. According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the shooting occurred at a shopping center near Katy Freeway, just outside of Houston.

The incident comes five days after constitutional carry was legalized in Texas on May 24, thanks to House Bill 1927, making it legal for people to own guns in the state, without needing a permit. Earlier in April, a mass shooting took place at a cabinet store in Bryan, which is located about 100 miles northwest of Houston.

Earlier in April, Joe Biden condemned gun violence, announcing a series of executive actions and legislative proposals. "We need to ban assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in this country. There’s no reason somebody needs a weapon of war with 100 rounds in a magazine. None," he said in an announcement at the Rose Garden on April 8. Senator Ted Cruz had in January made a statement with a mask resembling the notorious flag of the Texan Revolution of 1835, making a statement against the President's promises of a gun ban.

No names have been released yet, but ABC reported that the shooting happened after a dispute with two women inside the Katy salon owner's business on Saturday afternoon. According to officials on the scene, the two women had just received a service and were reportedly upset about their bill.

The shooting happened in the 21900 block of the Katy Freeway on south Mason Road near Provincial, according to Harris County Sheriff's Office officials, as tweeted by Sheriff Ed Gonzalez at 6:45 p.m. "Shooting on S. Mason Rd: incident occurred at a nail salon. An employee at the salon has been shot. Two female suspects have fled the scene. #hounews," the tweet added.

"It doesn't make any sense," said Jason Spencer with the Harris County Sheriff's Office, to ABC. "Whoever would do something like this [is] obviously a dangerous person. We need to get them in custody."

The owner of the business was shot in the chest and taken to a local hospital before being flown to Memorial Hermann. He is expected to make it out alive. The two women who fled the scene, according to deputies, are still on the run. There was no immediate information about the victim's condition or the suspects' descriptions.
