Contains spoilers and speculation for 'House of the Dragon'

LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 6 aired on HBO on July 21, 2024. The enthralling episode had a lot of build-up for an epic war that is imminent between the Greens and Blacks. The anticipation for the final two episodes of the show is at an all-time high and HBO capitalized on this anticipation by releasing a trailer for the next episode.

The trailer encapsulated the events of the next episode that will see the narrative moving forward with Daemon Targaryen (Matt Smith) finally getting a breakthrough in the Riverlands, and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) slipping into depression after being removed from the council by Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell)

Among the major talking points of the trailer is the face-off between Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) and Addam of Hull (Clinton Liberty) and Syrax and Seasmoke. Here's a look at what it means for the show.

In the closing moments of Episode 6, we saw the dragon Seasmoke claim Addam of Hull. This is a rare event as usually it is the other way round with dragon riders claiming dragons but it seems Seasmoke decided upon his rider himself.

Seasmoke was earlier ridden by Laenor Velaryon (John Macmillan) and if 'Fire and Blood' is to be believed, Laenor is closely related to Addam of Hull. In the books, Laenor is expected to be the biological father of both Addam and Alyn of Hull (Abubaker Salim). This seems unlikely though as Laenor is a homosexual.

There are other rumors about the brothers which state that they were fathered by Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint). In this episode, we also saw Alyn shaving off his Velaryon hair. So if that is true, Addam is the half-brother of Laenor.

Season 2 Episode 2 saw Seasmoke and Addam teased in a shot. It could be possible that Seasmoke sees an element of Laenor in Addam. Reasons notwithstanding, Rhaenyra is not happy about Addam being with Seasmoke. Rhaenrya is Laenor's ex-wife so she has a reason to be livid if one of her dragons is ridden by someone who is not part of her family.

Rhaenyra is under threat from the Greens and if the Greens were to get another Dragon, it would tilt the scales of war firmly in their favor. So she takes Syrax and confronts Seasmoke and Addam.

Addam of Hull will be an important ally for Rhaenyra and Blacks

Rhaenyra and Jacerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) have been looking for Dragonriders who would help them claim the Iron Throne. As per 'Fire and Blood', Addam of Hull will eventually be a big ally for the Blacks as he commits to Rhaenyra's cause and becomes Dragonrider for her along with Hugh the Hammer (Kieran Bew) and Ulf (Tom Bennett).

Addam of Hull will eventually also be legitimized as a Velaryon and will be known as Adam Velaryon, and so will his brother Alyn Velaryon who will take on the title of Lord of Tides after the death of Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint).

Addam however will face the wrath of Queen Rhaenyra who takes over King's Landing when she doubts Addam is a traitor. He proves his loyalty in the Second Battle of Tumbleton where he dies while fighting Rhaenyra's enemies. Alyn says the word Loyal as his epitaph.
