LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: 'House of the Dragon' Season 2 Episode 3 dropped on June 30, 2024, on HBO, and the enthralling episode set the stage for a long-awaited war between the Green and Black factions.

The first three episodes have been all about setting the stage up for the Dance of the Dragons which is the term coined in George R R Martin's universe for the Targaryen Civil War. The fourth episode is appropriately titled 'A Dance of the Dragons' and promises to begin the civil war after all attempts at reconciliation failed in Episode 3.

The makers of the show teased fans with a trailer of Episode 4 and the trailer shows both the factions and their dragons going to war. 'House of the Dragon' is adapted from the book 'Fire and Blood' and if the events of the book are followed, here's what to expect from the fourth episode.

The Battle at Rook's Rest commences as Criston Cole (Fabian Frankel) leads his army in an attempt to seize the stronghold. Despite Lord Simon Staunton's (Michael Elwyn) efforts to avert disaster by closing the gates, Cole's forces wreak havoc and breach the defenses.

Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D'Arcy) has to take the call of not sending Jacerys Velaryon (Harry Collett) into battle when Lord Staunton sends a message for help and instead asks Rhaenys Targaryen (Eve Best) to go and fight in battle.

Criston Cole is also joined by Aegon II Targaryen (Tom Glynn-Carney) and his dragon Sunfyre after he delayed his flight in the previous episode on the insistence of Lord Larys Strong (Matthew Needham).

Criston Cole finally gets his redemption after the first few episodes saw him cost the Greens on multiple occasions. He sets up a trap where Rhaenys and Meleys, the Red Queen get trapped and die.

On the Greens side, there are many casualties as well with 800 men from Criston Cole's army falling victim to the battle. The most significant casualty though is Aegon and his dragon who suffer major wounds in battle.

The victory however is the first one that the Greens get in battle and it helps them draw first blood. In the book, the head of Meleys is paraded to send a message.

On the Blacks's side, the loss leads to a confrontation between Lord Corlys Velaryon (Steve Toussaint) who is upset that Rhaenyra sent Rhaenys in battle instead of her sons.

With Aegon now injured, Aemond Targaryen (Ewan Mitchell) makes important decisions for the Greens in the aftermath of the battle.
