Jermaine Dixon: Ex-gangster executed by 'Hasidic Hitman' in broad daylight in Queens

Jermaine Dixon had been looking over his shoulder for weeks, scared for his life after leaving prison. And then, his worst nightmare became his reality. A surveillance video shows a hitman, dressed in a Hasidic garb to disguise himself, shooting the reformed gangster in the back of his head in broad daylight execution on Labor Day in Queens, as per reports.
According to the New York Daily News, on Thursday, September 9, 2021, authorities identified the victim of the fatal shooting as 46-year-old Dixon. As per another report in WNBC-TV, Dixon was killed just before 8 am, Monday, September 6, 2021, on South Conduit Avenue. The victim had been out of federal prison for less than a year, according to Daily News and had served 19 years for drug charges and the 1992 murder of Alphonso Gooden.

The publication, citing police sources, said that the gunman, who was caught in the video, was a black man wearing a Hasidic-style hat and long black robe. In the video, one can see the shooter pretending to work on a parked car with its hood up. As soon as Dixon arrives at his car on the other side of the road, the shooter runs up to him just as Dixon is getting into his car and shoots him in the back of his head. In the video, one can see smoke erupt from the gunfire. The shooter then headed back to the car he was pretending to work on. WNBC said the gunman shot Dixon twice before driving off.
Sources had told NBC New York that Dixon was constantly looking behind him. Additionally, detectives said that every time Dixon walked to his rental car, he would look around, knowing that he was a walking target. Dixon was a former gang member who had been released from federal prison less than a year ago, after serving two decades in connection with a 1992 murder.
As per the publication, witnesses told police that the gunman also was wearing white gloves and a white mask. He was pretending to work on the car for several hours before ambushing Dixon, sources told the Daily News. As per the report, detectives working on the case said that Dixon had been staying at a nearby Comfort Inn. Sources said that the police is investigating the possibility that the person who shot and killed Dixon believed he was cooperating with the government against the codefendants.
WNBC reported that Dixon had a "significant" amount of money on him. The Daily News said Dixon was part of a Brooklyn gang called the "Patio Crew".
