Just days after John Durham's supposed expose of Hillary Clinton, the former Secretary of State made her first public appearance to endorse Governor Kathy Hochul. On February 17, 2022, Clinton hinted at another run for President when she took the stage at the New York State Democratic Committee’s Nominating Convention. However, before she did, Clinton was greeted with jeers by a group of protestors outside the midtown hotel where the convention was taking place.

On February 12, a filing by Durham revealed that the Clinton campaign paid a tech firm to spy on Donald Trump, about which lawyer Michael Sussman lied to the FBI. Just weeks before that, rumors began to swirl that Clinton would run again for President in 2024. In recent weeks, she has gotten increasingly active over politics and even warned Democrats about the "radical left" and "the squad".

All signs do point to another run by Clinton, but if she does, she'll have a huge mountain to climb. Right now, Trump has brought her back into the spotlight, using Durham's revelations to charge his base against her. The results were on display for everyone to see outside the Sheraton Times Square hotel.

'Lock her up' jeers crowd

As Clinton went into and left the Sheraton hotel where the convention was taking place, she was met with a small group of protestors loudly jeering her. Many chanted "lock her up", a catchphrase promoted by Trump himself in his attacks on Clinton. One woman held a sign that said "Evil Killary". One protestor even held a Canadian flag and wore a shirt saying "we will not comply," the New York Post reported. You can see some of those protestors in this video uploaded on Twitter -

On her way out, Clinton was seen waving to the protestors, despite the very obvious signs they were there not to support her. One woman even gave Clinton the finger as she got into her car. While she didn't say anything outside, inside the convention was a very different story. Clinton tore into Trump, saying, "the struggle for unity and democracy is far from over.” While she was there to endorse Hochul, Clinton seemed to focus her speech more on the ex-President himself, reportedly bringing up his name and the insurrection more times than she did Hochul's name.

The attack on Trump appears to stem from the former President's attacks on her. Ever since winning the 2016 election, Trump has often targeted Clinton, but those attacks have become far more pronounced in recent weeks. On February 17, Trump said, "Crooked Hillary Clinton, one of the most corrupt politicians ever... can spy on a Presidential candidate and ultimately, the President of the United States." On February 13, he called the alleged spying was a "bigger deal than the Watergate scandal." He's also repeatedly called for Clinton and her aides to be put to death.

As Vanity Vair reported though, Trump's claims are completely baseless. Durham's filings do not say the White House during the Trump administration was infiltrated, and perhaps most importantly failed to establish a link between the Clinton campaign and tech executive Rodney Joffe, whose firm Neustar is at the center of the scandal. Despite that, Trump has gone ahead full steam to claim Clinton "hacked" his campaign and White House servers, which has reignited the anger at Clinton.

Nonetheless, it seems like she's not too bothered by the chaos. Clinton has begun weighing in on the 2022 midterms, indicating that she might not be done with politics after all.
