'High Seas'/'Alta Mar' Season 4: Release date, plot, cast, trailer and all you need to know about Netflix's Spanish period drama
Netflix's Spanish original, 'High Seas' aka 'Alta Mar' aka the "pretty people on a boat show" may have just dropped its third season, but a fourth season could soon be on its way. Season 3 of 'High Seas', which is now streaming on Netflix, saw many major developments and even fatalities that will lead to a very different future for the show. The plots of the first two seasons were almost completely set on the ship, Barbara de Braganza, which was making its way from Spain in Europe to Brazil in South America in the 1940s after the end of World War II. It seemed like 'High Seas' had everything: Nazis, ghosts, stolen gold, to name a few. The third season also featured nefarious characters and a deadly virus.
Bambú Producciones, the production company behind the series, stated in November 2019 that the show would return for third and fourth seasons. Read on for more details about Season 4 of 'High Seas'.
Release date
The first two seasons of 'High Seas' were filmed together and were released within five months of each other. Season 3 had just six episodes, so it is safe to assume that the fourth season with a similar number of episodes may hit Netflix by late 2020 or early 2021. Watch this space for updates.
Plot
Season 3 sees the Villanueva sisters reunite on the Barbara de Braganza after a year and a half on Argentina on a journey that will take them from Buenos Aires to Veracruz in Mexico. Both sisters have changed. Carolina owns another ship, and Eva is hiding a mission that she will carry out with Fabio, a Brazilian spy who wants to stop the scientist traveling aboard with a powerful lethal weapon.
Eva's former love interest was missing for most of the season as he was sent to captain Carolina's ship. However, he returns to the Barbara de Braganza just as things get out of control. Unfortunately, his fight with the villain of the season sees him stabbed and he passes away in Eva's arms. Meanwhile, the Barbara de Braganza is also shot down.
The fourth season might once again be set aboard a ship but it will be a different one. Perhaps, it could be Carolina's ship. Meanwhile, it is possible that in the fourth season we will get to learn more about Fabio and we can expect Fabio and Eva to get closer.
