Around 3.30 pm, emergency personnel was sent to the Sallisaw Airport in response to a report of a skydiver who had been hurt while making a solo jump. According to investigators, she had previously taken part in a tandem skydive and had taken two first-time jump classes at Adventure Skydive Center. To ascertain what precipitated the occurrence, the department is collaborating with the Federal Aviation Administration and the Oklahoma Medical Examiner's Office, as reported by The Kansas City Star.
A man who saw the event happen on that fateful afternoon spoke with 5News about the incident."The body, that was on that parachute, was just spinning in circles," said Roland Preston. He claims to have been traveling on US Highway 59 in Sallisaw while en route to dinner. when he noticed Glasgow's body hanging horizontally in the air. "I mean it was completely sideways," Preston said. "I feel like they were already unconscious in the air. Because if they would have been responsive in the air, they would've been kicking their legs. They would have been trying to fight with their arms to control the parachute."
He also said that he's never heard of any problems with the skydiving center. "They've always been really, really big on safety— safety oriented. Everybody that I've come in contact with that I know that has skydived, had said that their facility is one of the best around."
On social media, friends and family paid tribute to Glasgow. “Today heaven received another angel,” Jason Glasgow, Heather Glasgow’s cousin, posted on Facebook. “The world is a lesser place with out her. She lived fearlessly and set the example to never give up and never quit dreaming.” “Pray for our family, especially her mother and sisters, and her two boys,” Betty Glasgow Howse, Heather Glasgow’s aunt, wrote in a post. “This has been an unbelievable shock,” she added.
