New Mexico mom preserves Christmas tree decorated by son, 17, before he died by suicide
Christmas brings joy and hope in people’s lives but for a few, it also brings back the memories they once shared with their loved ones. One such incident was reported after a grieving mother preserved the memories of her late son with the help of a Christmas tree they had decorated together. The woman identified as Heather Davis kept the Christmas tree as it was before her son Kooper died by suicide in December 2020, as published by Fox News.
Heather Davis, who lives in Hobbs, New Mexico, decided to keep the last year’s decorated Christmas tree as it was one of the last special things they did together. Speaking of suicide, a 16-year-old hanged herself after a suicide helpline she contacted revealed her address, personal details to police in March 2020. In February 2021, a 17-year-old college student hanged herself after informing her friends that she was raped. Another incident happened where a 20-year-old woman from the UK reportedly died by suicide in October 2021. She was apparently a member of a bizarre WhatsApp group that discussed suicide and self-harm. In another unfortunate incident, a 15-year-old New York teen had killed himself within hours of being blackmailed over 'personal' photos in April 2021.

‘Something I'll hold on to forever’
According to Fox News, the Christmas tree was important for the mother as it has the ornaments hung by her son. Heather Davis’ son Kooper was 17 years old when he died by suicide last year. The mother ensured the tree stayed the same way the way her son had decorated it and therefore, she wrapped it up with cellophane.
Speaking about the same, she told SWNS, “Kooper helped me buy and decorate that tree just before he passed away and that's something I'll hold on to forever.” She added, “Unwrapping it for the first time this year was emotional but it was nice to feel close to him again. The tree will be staying this way for every Christmas to come so each year we can remember our beautiful son." For this year’s celebration, Heather Davis’ got together with her husband and two kids to unwrap the same tree.
