'We Own This City' comes to an end after a gripping six-episode run, and the miniseries that follow the rise and fall of Baltimore's Gun Trace Task Force (GTTF) ends with the fate of the detectives being revealed. Safe to say, the activities of the force ensured that Baltimore Police Department took a massive hit as far as credibility was concerned. Sergeant Wayne Jenkins (Jon Bernthal) pleads guilty to some of the cases while remaining defiant about some — including not planting the drugs on Umar Burley. However, he does agree to have filed the false report and his lack of cooperation in the federal investigation sees him slapped with 25 years of imprisonment.

Following their support, Gondo (McKinley Belcher III) and Rayam (Darrell Britt-Gibson) are handed 10 and 12 years of imprisonment, respectively. Maurice Ward (Rob Brown) and Evodio Hendrix (Ham Mukasa) receive seven-year sentences each. Like Jenkins, Thomas Allers (Bobby J Brown) refuses to co-operate and gets 15 years of prison time, while Daniel Hersl (Josh Charles) and Marcus Taylor (Robert Harley) plead not guilty. They are convicted and sentenced to 18 years in prison. Commissioner Davis is fired.

Detective Sean Suiter (Jamie Hector) takes his own life. Although the coroner’s office rules his death as a homicide, an independent review decided that Suiter committed suicide in order to protect his legacy. There's no confirmation to show whether he aided Sgt Wayne Jenkins’ corrupt ways. The finale put in a scenario where Jenkins’ former partner felt like he was guilty of being part of the corrupt squad and didn’t want to snitch to bring Jenkins to justice. Whether Suiter did steal or take stolen money will remain a mystery.

The final minutes also see some high-ranking officials being implicated in corruption cases. The new commissioner Darryl DeSousa brings back the GTTF, and while he's forced to resign four months into his role after tax evasion, the fact that he re-establishes the unit shows that it was a lost cause. The law and order at BPD which was already in shambles are further decimated when it is revealed that Mayor Cathrine Pugh was charged with tax fraud as well. Jenkins may have acclimated to life in prison, but he was one of the key characters in setting the tone of a corrupt unit that came in highly decorated.
