'The Haves and the Have Nots' Season 7 Finale Review: Veronica seeks revenge but karma might have other plans
Throughout the Season 7 finale of 'The Haves and the Have Nots' that just aired, Veronica Harrington was out getting revenge on those who have done her the dirtiest. She made two stops outside her home, before getting back and reminding the world, and by extension herself too, in some ways, that she's THAT b***h. But even though Veronica's plans of probing, teasing and taunting seem to go effortlessly smooth, in the end, she still comes out a loser because of the fate that befalls her ex-beau, David.
The episode kicks off with Veronica learning from Marco that he was taking care of her suspicions about getting tracked and thus began her little errands. First Veronica stopped by at Justin's to inquire about the pool party she shot up and slyly drop into Tanner's notice that his younger brother had sexually assaulted Jeffrey in the back of the older one's cop car.
The second trip she made was actually to her son Jeffrey's place where she tried passing further homophobic sh*t against her son and his boyfriend. Veronica's stay was interrupted by Colby's arrival and spiteful banter ensued. In turn, she left but not without mocking Colby's lisp and learning his full name which can mean only one thing — danger for the self-proclaimed suave boy.
And that's saying something because the finale finally revealed Wyatt Cryer actually bled to death from Vinny slitting his wrists in the previous episode. But while Wyatt's death couldn't be shocking thanks to the bazillion times he has survived on the show so far, Veronica's curse of action makes up for the lack of surprise Cryer's death earns.
Once back in her own house, Veronica interrupts an argument between Laura and Samuel in their home via a couple of text messages to the young hunky pool boy. The texts reach Samuel as he is trying to clear air of confrontation from his wife, Laura, and offer him money. Lots and lots of money or so suggest the photos sent by Veronica, who blackmails Samuel into getting back to work, threatening to reveal his connection with Regina to his wife.
It all goes fun and games for Veronica, who is clearly trying to fill a void left behind by her icy cold treatment towards her ex-husband David. But in the long run, even with her seeking revenge and pining for the ex, it is this very man's incumbent fate on the show that has us worried.
Speculations surrounding both Veronica's death and her killing someone this finale was rife, but instead, it's much more of a karmic progression that her arc suffers. Almost as if reflecting all the bad karma she has accumulated over this, Veronica's defeat lies in what lies ahead for David. Remember Alissa? She demanded a house this week, still blackmailing David for her fate in prostitution.
David felt guilty for the most part but then was eventually fed up and decided he was not going to cave into Alissa anymore. And that backfired real bad, as Alissa smugly announced he will pay for that and more, and immediately rushed out of the house, banging her arm and messing it up real bad screaming rape to whoever would listen.
We're not saying David has never done anything terrible in his life, but this is so clearly Veronica's bad karma manifesting. Luckily a Season 8 has already been announced with a premiere date, so we won't have to wait for too long to find out.
'The Haves and the Have Nots' Season 7 finale aired on October 28 on OWN. Season 8 will drop this November 24.
