Has Twitter's new logo been removed? San Francisco residents annoyed by Elon Musk's glowing giant X logo
SAN FRANSISCO, CALIFORNIA: Twitter's new logo X has been generating news since its owner and CTO Elon Musk announced the removal of the microblogging site's old logo in a tweet where he bid goodbye to "all the birds." Musk also installed a massive luminous 'X' logo over the headquarters of Twitter in San Francisco, causing another squabble as residents expressed worry about the glowing sign. A report by CNBC said that the "sign had been removed from the roof" amid the rising complaints surrounding the "flashing lights" of the sign.

Has Twitter's new logo been removed?
Elon Musk designated San Francisco as the location for X Corp over the weekend with the installation of a massive illuminated X sign on top of the company's headquarters on Friday, July 28. It was first reported by CNBC which saw workers disassembling the luminous X, removing its lights and an arm of the letter on Monday, July 30 after the creation received protest from neighbors and city officials. By 1 pm, the sign had been removed from the roof.
Why are people raising concerns over the sign?
According to a representative for San Francisco's Department of Building Inspections, 24 complaints have been filed. The concerns stated that the sign was placed without a permit, is hazardous, and is an annoyance. One claimed that residents found it difficult to sleep due to the flashing lights. Even on Twitter, people voiced their criticism after seeing a video of the headquarters without a sign. A user tweeted, "It’s hard to sleep on the street with that thing pulsing all night long." Another user said, "can’t wait to hear “X is moving its headquarters to Texas” in the near future… @elonmusk." "Well that was un-“𝕏”pected!" claimed another user. "Well, I guess they realized having a big shiny '𝕏' sign doesn't make up for all the questionable decisions they've made lately," noted another.

'Building inspectors observed the structure being dismantled'
According to Patrick Hannan, a spokesman for the San Francisco Department of Building Inspection, "This morning, building inspectors observed the structure being dismantled." A building permit is required, he continued but stressed that it can be gained later due to safety concerns, reported CNBC. "The property owner will be assessed fees for the unpermitted installation of the illuminated structure," Hannan stated. "The fees will be for building permits for the installation and removal of the structure, and to cover the cost of the Department of Building Inspection and the Planning Department’s investigation."
X Corp received a notice of violation from city officials on Friday for erecting the sign without permission. Reps for X Corp frequently refused to "provide access" to inspectors who visited the building, according to public records on the department's website. In a complaint, city officials claimed they were informed by Twitter that the building was a "temporary lighted sign for an event." It's likely that the sign is merely temporarily being taken down in order to make changes or obtain city approval.
