‘School Spirit’ renewed for season 4 on Paramount+ — here’s everything we know
Everyone’s favorite high school drama will be back in business. As per Variety, ‘School Spirits’ will return for its fourth season on Paramount+. The sleeper hit recently aired its third season finale on March 4, 2026. The series is centered around a teenager named Maddie (Peyton List), who finds herself in the afterlife at the start of the series. “Maddie goes on a crime-solving journey as she adjusts to high school purgatory, but the closer she gets to discovering the truth, the more secrets and lies she uncovers,” the show’s synopsis shared. Alongside List, Kristian Ventura, Kiara Pichardo, Spencer MacPherson, Sarah Yarkin, Rainbow Wedell, Nick Pugliese, Josh Zuckerman, Miles Elliot, Maria Dizzia, Ci Hang Ma, and Milo Manheim star in the show.
Season 3 ended with a massive twist that changed the fate of ghosts lurking in the halls of Split River campus, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The spirits were bound to the school by a barrier, which was destroyed in the third-season finale, freeing them to move wherever they wanted. The fourth season will possibly explore how the spirits utilize this newfound capability. Another major storyline to possibly focus on in the upcoming season would be Van Heidt's revenge arc, as per Deadline. He ended the third season, having taken over the body of Maddie’s mother, Sandra. CBR shared that the third season of the show, until February, enjoyed a healthy viewership on Paramount+ and Amazon channels. It also ranked within the top 10 in multiple countries. This season ended with a 100% Tomatometer rating on Rotten Tomatoes. All three seasons are available for streaming on Paramount+ in Canada, the UK, Australia, Brazil, Latin America, and the US.
Returning cast members have not been confirmed, with a big question mark on the availability of Manheim, who has recently been cast in the live-action remake of 'Tangled,' according to TV Insider. Considering how similar the fourth season's renewal timeline is, fans can expect the upcoming season to air in early 2027. 'School Spirit' is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution and produced by Paramount Television Studios.
Variety claimed that Nate Trinrud & Megan Trinrud serve as creators, showrunners, and executive producers of the show. Both are excited to step into this new chapter with fresh possibilities. “What I find genuinely interesting is being stuck somewhere for so long and then being released into the world — only to realize how hard it is to exist in that huge space again. The world has changed. Split River as a school is a very tight little environment. What’s out there is very different, and I think it will be a real shock,” Megan Trinrud shared. Oliver Goldstick, known for his work in 'Bridgerton' and 'Pretty Little Liars,' is set to return as a consultant after donning the hat of showrunner in the last three seasons. List also retains her role as an executive producer.
