Paramount+ dropped the first look and a major release date update on Peyton List's 'School Spirits' Season 3. The drama series premieres January 28, 2026, with a three-episode release, with the streamer announcing the date at the show's panel during CCXP in São Paulo.

List was part of the event and weighed in on her character, Maddie Nears' character arc in the latest instalment. "Now she’s back in her body and trying to pick up the pieces of her life," List said. "Her best friend is trapped, and she’s trying to get him out." She further added, "She’s fallen completely in love with these [deceased] characters, so it’s really hard for her to choose."

Per THR, the latest season revolves around Maddie, as she "navigates the responsibility of protecting the dead and the living while also dealing with frightening visions. Meanwhile, the teen’s best friend, Simon (Kristian Ventura), is stuck in the afterlife and focused on unearthing secrets about Split River High. The friends seek to learn why so many people died at the school, and they also hope to understand the warning that Mr. Martin (Josh Zuckerman) tried to deliver."

The cast also includes Spencer MacPherson, Kiara Pichardo, Sarah Yarkin, Nick Pugliese, Rainbow Wedell, Ci Hang Ma, Miles Elliot and Milo Manheim round out the cast. New members in season 3 are Erika Swayze, Jennifer Tilly, and Ari Dalbert.

EP Nate Trinrud teased the new season, saying the approach to certain storylines was intentional. "The three of us have had a really clear vision of the show and the big strokes of where we’re going. So yes, there’s definitely a roadmap," Trinrud explained. "But what is funny is that there are always details that people will call out. They’ll be like, “What does this mean? This doesn’t add up to anything.” I would be like, “Just you wait.” We’re really intentional with the way that we do that stuff. If people watch Season 2 closely, there are a lot of clues about where Season 3 is going."

The news of the renewal was made in March earlier this year, following an impressive second season run. In a statement, Shauna Phelan, head of live action scripted series and film for Awesomeness TV and Nickelodeon, was excited about the third season. "We are so thrilled to bring School Spirits back to our devoted audiences for another season of masterful storytelling brought to life by Peyton List and the incredible cast."

'School Spirits' Season 3 arrives January 28, 2026, on Paramount+.
