Marissa's (Mireille Enos) attempts at rescuing Hanna (Esme Creed-Miles) from The Meadows has failed in a big way. As a result, Hanna has now become an active trainee of UTRAX, or as John Carmichael ((Dermot Mulroney) put it "You're one of us now". What exactly does being a part of this operation mean? Hanna learns it sooner rather than later when she gets assigned to go undercover as a student in an attempt to get close to a journalist who has been in touch with a whistleblower, someone from operation UTRAX. The whistleblower wants to publish the truth about the operation and Carmichael's boss wants it stopped. So Jules (Gianna Kiehl) is sent along with Hanna on this mission. The two of them sign up as students of the journalist's wife and their objective is to find the identity of the whistleblower, otherwise known as Tacitus.

Is Tacitus in any way connected to Marissa Weigler, who goes by the code name Vesuvius? We do know that The Meadows director, Carmichael, is extremely interested in the force behind Marissa, and in this episode, Carmichael and his friends try to find out who Marissa's friends are by torturing her in an unnamed location. She is repeatedly questioned about her connection to Tacitus and who she really works for, but Marissa doesn't give in. The people that she works for seem to have connections everywhere because we see one of the men guarding her tell her that she will soon be rescued.

Meanwhile, Hanna is conflicted about her assignment. While initially, it was just about identifying the whistleblower, the assignment soon expands into an interception on two ends. Sandy (Áine Rose Daly) and Clara (Yasmin Monet Prince) are sent to Barcelona to identify the whistleblower and they are expected to intercept the whistleblower before he/she gets in touch with the journalist. Hanna, who was able to take pictures of the journalist's notes, helps Carmichael's team identify the whistleblower as a military lawyer Robert Gelder (Mark Bazeley). He seems to have access to classified information and to help intercept him, both Sandy and Clara get close to his daughter.

After this new development, Hanna's conflict increases and she gets in touch with Stephen Mannion. Mannion is the guy who had tried to help Hanna and Marissa break out of Meadows before and he has now followed her to the location of her assignment as well. What Hanna doesn't know is that Jules has been following her around and has informed Carmichael of Hanna's actions. Hanna was informed that Tacitus, the whistleblower, has detailed information regarding all of UTRAX's planned future assassinations.

She decides to help Mannion, but when she learns that Jules had outed her to Carmichael and set her up, there is nothing Hanna is able to do except get out of the situation. Before she can round up and return to where Mannion is, Jules takes him out and also succeeds in taking the journalist out as well. What will Hanna do now that her safety net at The Meadows doesn't exist? Where is she headed?

'Hanna' Season 2 premiered on July 3 and all episodes can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
