'Hanna' Season 2 Episode 2 begins with Marissa Weigler (Mireille Enos) rejoining the Company (read CIA) after Hanna gets in touch with her following Clara getting captured by UTRAX agents. Hanna has already guessed that Marissa had helped John Carmichael capture Clara in the first place, but she doesn't know anyone else who could help her at the moment. There is also the matter of the CIA believing Hanna to be dead after the cabin that she was in was destroyed in a gas explosion. So, she hopes to use this incident and initially, it seems as if Hanna was looking forward to disappearing.

Marissa helps her in changing her looks a bit, and even acquires a Canadian passport, a safe place for her to stay until she feels safe enough to step away and live on her own. What Marissa doesn't know is that Hanna is not really interested in disappearing. She wants to find Clara and rescue her before something unfortunate happens to her. After having experienced freedom, Clara cannot be expected to fit in with the trainees who are programmed to obey. So instead of telling Marissa her plans, Hanna ends up doing the groundwork herself.

Not long ago, Hanna had removed a small implant from Clara's body which had the name Passway clearly marked on it. Upon checking out the company, she finds out that it is a facility that runs clinical trials to experiment and better drugs that are used on Meadow trainees. However, Hanna is just a breath away from being captured herself before Marissa thankfully appears to help her out.

It is after much convincing that Marissa agrees to help Hanna rescue Clara and so she also acquires a fake identity for Clara. In the meantime, Clara is taken back to the facility but this time around, the life of trainees has changed too much. Trainees are now given more freedom with tailor-made lives that will help them adapt to life as "normal" teenagers who could use their identities to successfully orchestrate state-ordered assassinations.

This time around, trainees are free to question the Company members, read literature that interests them and wear clothes that they like. In leaving the uniforms behind, these trainees are adapting a new identity that would help them adapt to lives as students. Among the 30 trainees including Clara, there are two who portray two different sides to the life that trainees lead in the facility. One is Jules, who has found this newfound freedom to be a great way to expand her horizons. She believes that the facility is using a heteronormative way to get the trainees to obey orders while her friend Sandy believes that the facility has done the best for the trainees.

Sandy also believes that the fake family that the facility set her up with will somehow transform into her real family. She begins to pour out her emotions and thoughts in the messages that she sends her 'mom' who is fake. Sandy is not aware that an operative responds to all messages from the trainees, so it is going to be interesting to see her beliefs about the facility come crashing down.

'Hanna' Season 2 premiered on July 3 and all episodes can be streamed on Amazon Prime Video.
