Netflix 'Gunpowder Milkshake' Cast: Meet Karen Gillan and other kickass assassins

Gunpowder Milkshake’ is an upcoming Netflix action movie featuring some of the finest female actors of this generation. The story revolves around a hitwoman named Sam (Karen Gillan) who works for a shadowy company called The Firm. The assassin abandons her mission to rescue a little girl caught in her crosshairs.

However, Sam’s life turns upside down when she decides to go rogue and protect the girl so that she can be returned to her estranged mother Scarlet (Lena Headey). The Firm decides to declare a war on her. Sam and Scarlet along with a handful of badass women united to take down the Firm and fend off threats from multiple directions. The movie is led by amazing female actors like Karen Gillan, Lena Headey, and more. It is one of those movies where the sisterhood reunites to kill evil and take the viewers for a thrilling ride. Cast

Karen Gillan as Sam

Born on November 28, 1987, Karen Gillan is one of the most renowned stars in the world right now and has worked in several blockbuster movies in recent years. She started her training in acting at the age of 16 at Telford College. She moved to London at age 18 to study at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts. However, she did not start her career as an actress and worked as a model before making it to the silver screen. Gillan made her modeling debut at the Lakme Fashion Week in 2007.

Her initial television acting career included guest appearances on several television shows, with her first role being in an episode of ITV crime drama ‘Rebus’, a role for which she had to drop out of school. She was also seen on ‘The Kevin Bishop Show’ where she portrayed the characters of various celebrities. She also made an appearance on the acclaimed British TV show ‘Doctor Who’.



 

The Scottish actress made her feature film debut in 2010 with ‘Outcast’. She gained wider prominence after playing the role of Kaylie Russell in the horror movie ‘Oculus’.  However, her moment of glory came in 2014 when she was cast as Nebula in Marvel’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. She was praised for her acting skills and became a worldwide sensation. In 2015, she acted alongside Christian Bale, Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, and Ryan Gosling in ‘The Big Short’.

The actress went on to have another blockbuster hit in the form of ‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’. Her other film credits include ‘Avengers: Infinity War’, ‘All Creatures Here Below’, ‘Stuber’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.

Lena Headey as Scarlet

Lena Headey needs no introduction. She graced the smaller screen as the badass queen of Westeros for almost 10 years in ‘Game of Thrones’ and gave some of the finest moments in Television’s history. Headey had her first experience of acting at Shelley College. While performing in a school production at the Royal National Theatre, she was picked for a role in the 1992 film ‘Waterland’. She also had a small role in the critically acclaimed 1993 drama film ‘The Remains of the Day’, which received eight Oscar nominations.



 

Headey played Kitty Brydon, the childhood friend, and romantic interest of Mowgli, in Disney's ‘The Jungle Book’ in 1994. She found much wider recognition when she starred with Matt Damon and Heath Ledger in ‘The Brothers Grimm’ in 2005. However, the biggest role of her career in 2011 with the HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’. She portrayed the character of Cersei Lannister on the show and garnered universal acclaim for her acting. The actress was nominated at the Primetime Emmys, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, and other award ceremonies throughout the show’s nine-season run on the network.

Bassett first appeared in small roles on 'The Cosby Show' (1984) and 'Spenser: For Hire' (1985), but it was not until 1990 that a spate of television roles brought her notice. She delivered the only three-dimensional performance in the 1992 miniseries about The Jackson Five and their family, ‘The Jacksons: An American Dream’. The actress went on to give one of her finest performances in the movie ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ in 1993 alongside Laurence Fishburne.



 

Bassett received her first Academy Awards nomination for her stupendous work in ‘What’s Love Got to Do with It’ while she won the Best Actress accolade at the Golden Globes. Since then, she has given many award-worthy performances in projects such as ‘The Rosa Parks Story’, ‘American Horror Story: Coven’, ‘Master of None’,  and ‘A Black Lady Sketch Show’. Interestingly, she received nods in different categories at the Primetime Emmys for all the aforementioned titles.

Michelle Yeoh as Florence

The legendary actress from Malaysia has been an acting stalwart since the inception of her career and has given many iconic performances over the years. She initially wanted to be a Ballet Dancer, but an injury prevented her from becoming one. In 1983, at the age of 20, Yeoh was crowned Miss Malaysia. Yeoh started her film career acting in action and martial arts films, where she did most of her own stunts.



 

She started her Hollywood career with the James Bond movie ‘Tomorrow Never Dies’ opposite Pierce Brosnan. Yeoh was praised for her acting and her journey in Hollywood started on a perfect note. Yeoh was then recruited by Ang Lee to star as Yu Shu Lien in the Chinese language martial arts film ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’. The movie turned out to be a huge success and garnered a lot of success across the globe. The film was nominated for 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture. Meanwhile, Yeoh received the Best Actress nomination at the BAFTAs. 

Carla Gugino as Mathilde

Gugino has been a part of the industry since 1988 and started her career with TV shows like ‘Who’s the Boss?’ and ‘Good Morning, Miss Bliss’. In movies, Gugino made her debut in the film ‘Troop Beverly Hills’, and co-starred with Pauly Shore in the 1993 romantic comedy ‘Son in Law’. She later appeared in the video to Bon Jovi's 1994 song ‘Always’. Gugino also starred with Nicolas Cage in ‘Snake Eyes’, and in ‘Judas Kiss’, which she also co-produced. 



 

The actress received a lot of praise for her acting in the Netflix horror series ‘The Haunting of Hill House’ and its sequel ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor’.
