Who is Guadalupe Huapilla-Perez?
Huapilla-Perez, who graduated from Immokalee High School in 2020, will need "months of treatment and subsequent rehabilitation," according to her sister, who added that the fact that she lacked health insurance made the situation much worse, Detroit News reported. Her parents are farm workers from Florida.
In her GoFundMe post, which had raised more than $160,000 as of Wednesday afternoon, February 15, Huapilla-Perez's sister described her as ‘hard-working, focused, and ambitious’, adding their family held all the victims in their hearts. "Lupe was one of the victims injured in the recent attack at Michigan State University. While we are happy that Lupe remains with us, we are devastated by the violence that has impacted so many. This unfortunately includes our family," she wrote.
She also implied that Huapilla-Perez’s rehabilitation process would be difficult and would take a while. "She is a leader in the community and beyond. Lupe is incredibly hard-working, focused, and ambitious, choosing a career path that's never been explored in our family. Being away from home, our family will be unable to work while monthly bills will continue to mount," her sister said. However, MSU spokeswoman Emily Guerrant has declined to confirm whether Huapilla-Perez was among the injured. "At this time we are not confirming the identities of any of our students who are in critical condition at Sparrow Hospital as a result of the attack," Guerrant said, according to Detroit News.

The three victims, who were killed during the shooting are identified as Alexandria Verner, Brian Fraser, and Arielle Anderson. As MEAWW reported earlier, Verner was a junior student from Clawson. Born to parents Ted and Nancy, she graduated from Clawson High School in 2020. The school described her as "a tremendous student, athlete, [and] leader" who "exemplified kindness."
Fraser, the second victim, was a sophomore from Grosse Pointe, who graduated from Grosse Pointe South. He was also the president of the Michigan Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at MSU. According to the fraternity's official statement, as a leader, he was a "great friend to his Phil Delt brothers, the Greek community at Michigan State, and those he interacted with on campus."
Arielle Diamond Anderson was identified after Fraser and Verner. The late teenager was reportedly the niece of 'Flavor of Love' reality TV star Chandra Davis aka Deelishis, who shared her missing news on Monday, February 13. She was a graduate of the Grosse Pointe Public School where Fraser also graduated from. The 19-year-old’s family said she "loved children and wanted to be a pediatrician one day."
