Spoilers for 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 Episode 7 and 8

Morale is at an all-time low at Grey Sloan Memorial, after the death of Dr Andrew DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti). There's some desperate need for good news and the doctors are hoping that Meredith Grey's (Ellen Pompeo) health will improve soon and provide some light at the end of the tunnel. Meredith seems to be stable, so much so that Teddy (Kim Raver) is thinking of taking her off the ventilator. While everyone is willing Meredith to get better, the question looms, who will have the tough task of breaking the news of DeLuca's death once she is conscious again.

Will it be Dr Bailey (Chandra Wilson) who is grappling with her own grief surrounding the death of her mother and the shock of DeLuca's death? Will it be Meredith's guide and mentor Dr Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.) or Dr Teddy who has been taking charge of Meredith's care and who also carries around the grief and guilt that she couldn't save DeLuca? Well as of the moment the best candidate to share this devastating news, doesn't seem to be any of the above. The one person who seems to be able to get through to Meredith, even appearing on the beach with her is Dr Cormac Hayes (Richard Flood)

Ellen Pompeo and Giacomo Gianniotti star in 'Grey's Anatomy (ABC)

We see Cormac Hayes on the beach with Meredith talking to her about her kids and all the adorable things they do. Meredith is curious how he knows so much about her children. He tells her that they need her and everyone at the hospital needs her too. For a moment it seems like he can get through to her, to convince her to rejoin all of them on the other side. Meredith seems to be making a recovery at one point, but it's short-lived. While talking on the beach Meredith tells Cormac that she's happy on the beach, warm and pain-free. In the last shot of the episode, we see Meredith and Derek sitting closer than we have ever seen them on the beach, laughing and enjoying each other's company. So what does this mean? Is Meredith ever going to come back?

Fans much like Meredith's co-workers urged her to fight,

"Come on Mer they need to you to fight!!!!! #greys"

But at the same time fans don't want Meredith to miss out on a Meredith and Derek kiss. Well if ever there was a kiss of life, we're sure that this would be it.

One fan tweeted "YEAH BUT BEFORE THAT WE NEED MERDER KISS OR TOUCH".
