'Greenleaf' Season 5 Episode 7: Is [spoiler] dead? Tearful fans are in disbelief and say 'we need a miracle'

Killing off main characters at the end of the final season seems to be the new it thing for TV shows, especially five-year long-running ones with a fanbase gigantic enough to be classified as a continent. After NBC's 'Blindspot' wrapped with killing off its main character of five seasons, looks like OWN's 'Greenleaf' might do the same, or so hints the ending of the latest Episode 7 of the last and fifth season.

Family patriarch of the megachurch drama, Bishop James Greenleaf was found near unresponsive on his bed by his soon to be wife again, Lady Mae, and the ambulances might not have gotten there in time. Of course, this is the penultimate episode of the finale, so in all goodness of her heart, Oprah Winfrey decided to save the Bishop because that's what fans definitely want.

After an entire episode of the Bishop and Lady Mae going back and forth about paying off Tara for the house, it's finally time for the big reveal. The Bishop comes clean about Darryl's identity and the connection between his death and the Bishop's blooming torture. In the end, his truth is out and so is his retribution and redemption as he admits that money blinded him and it looks like all is forgiven by anybody involved because the Greenleafs are back and safe, in the nick of time to save the Cavalry from being demolished. Yet, when it is time for things to come to a peaceful closure at home, not everything goes right. Lady Mae walks up to the Bishop to talk about their wedding but he can barely respond. Before his situation gets worse, he writes on a paper "I do", and although Lady Mae calls the ambulance, the scene trails off in a way that would lead one to expect the worst. And fans are not alright.

While some tweeted: "Damn, I saw that ending coming," others are still lost and looking for a confirmation that this is just a close call. "I’m counting on you to be alive next week. In a Coma maybe... but still alive! We need a miracle and a NEW season," wrote another fan to Keith David, who plays the role.

Others simply can't get over the loss. "Me trying to move on with my life, but then I think about Bishop," shared one. Another asked to speak with David directly, tweeting: "@ImKeithDavid someone get bishop on the phone not today not like this #GreenleafOwn #Greenleaf."

Other fans were ready to sacrifice in exchange for the Bishop. "Take BALDERELLA (#Kerissa) #Bob #Judy heck even #Phil #Rochelle #Tara or #Noah Lord.... Give Bishop back!!" wrote one.

Another simply cursed the root of the problem: "Why??? Does it have to end this way??? Don't do this writers! Let Bishop live!"

It's obvious, after everything they've been through, the Greenleaf family does not deserve THIS loss. Neither do the fans.

'Greenleaf' season 5 airs on Tuesdays at 9 pm only on OWN.
