Who is Grace Victory? 'Harry Potter' star in a coma with Covid-19 a day after giving birth to baby boy
Grace Victory, known for her columns in the Happiul Magazine, is a social media icon who brags over 210,000 Instagram followers. The 30-year-old tested positive for Covid-19 a while ago and although the symptoms were not as severe initially, they worsened as she reached the final trimester of her pregnancy. The doctors decided the baby, which was due in February, needed to be delivered on Christmas Eve and she gave birth to a healthy baby boy, as her family shared on her social media. But the YouTuber, who had entered the ICU just the day after giving birth, is currently in a medically induced coma.
For those unaware, the breakout YouTube vlogger who founded the How to Heal Holistically platform has been hailed the 'Internet's big sister' by her millions of followers on social media. She grew up in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, with a difficult childhood where her now estranged father would beat up her mother, and she herself was once kidnapped and held hostage by a relative. Having suffered from crippling body issues since the age of six, Grace was also raped by a college student when she was just 16 and out with a friend for the night. The incident forced her into depression and two suicidal attempts.
All of these tough experiences growing up led to Grace becoming the voice that her followers have been aching for as she keeps taking on had to hit taboo issues and talking about them. In her 2017 memoir, 'No Filter', the YouTuber had documented how her disturbing childhood was the driving ambition behind her YouTube channel which also brags of over 200k subscribers now. documents how her turbulent childhood gave her the ambition to launch her eponymous YouTube channel, which currently has over 200,000 subscribers. A talented dancer and actor, Grace had joined the Jackie Palmer Stage School in High Wycombe at the age of two, and went on to star in 'The Bill', 'Family Affairs' and four 'Harry Potter' films.
As a plus-size icon, Grace's 2012 Pressure To Be Perfect video aided launch her career as a body-positive activist, and soon she appeared in campaigns for Nike and Evans. Through her Instagram page How to Heal Holistically, Grace offers her 10.7k followers on there "a platform to encourage conscious healing + the reframing of one's self. here, we’re harmonizing emotional intelligence with spiritual wisdom," states her Instagram bio. After battling bulimia and body image issues for years, Grace finally learned the healthy way out and has also filmed the BBC documentary, Clean Eating’s Dirty Secrets, in 2016 alongside Alesha Dixon and Katie Piper.
Updating her followers about her current situation, her family posted on her Instagram "As you guys know, Grace gave birth on Christmas Eve to a beautiful baby boy, who is currently doing so well, he's incredible. We Love him so much. Grace developed Covid-19 two weeks ago and although her symptoms were mild at first, they worsened as the days went on. Which meant they had [to] deliver the baby as soon as possible, as she was just too unwell to carry on with the pregnancy. Grace was admitted into intensive care on Christmas Day due to issues with her breathing & therefore they had to make the decision of placing her into an Induced Coma, to give her body the rest it needs, in order to recover. She's currently stable but please keep her in your thoughts & prayers."
Expressing their faith, Grace's family added "that she'll come out of this stronger than ever. She has dedicated her whole career to healing people, we now ask that you pray, to heal her." Grace shares her son with boyfriend Lee, with whom she celebrated two years of relationship this November 11, by posting: "Two years of loving each other." Lee has also shared Grace's family's message on his Instagram Story on December 28, along with a photo of the couple.
