We see Rio and Beth Boland in what looks like a quiet, discreet and definitely far away from the public eye-type setting, in the promotional video for Episode 9 of 'Good Girls' Season 3. Rio's henchman is present, of course, like the loyal sidekick he is, and sitting next to him, a panicked Beth is holding a gun in her hand. Now we know she is doing the utmost to get back into Rio's good books but is being a hitman for him truly the best way to go about it?

In the previous episode titled 'Nana', we saw Beth telling her own sidekicks — Ruby Hill and Annie Marks — that she just needs to earn back Rio's trust. She put on a gorgeous dress and tried to woo him with full face makeup only for Rio to task her with odd jobs akin to a mercenary. But while the last time was about picking up and handing off an escaped fugitive to Rio, this time, things involve a gun.

In the official clip, Rio tells Beth he has another job for her as she pulls out the gun from a white paper bag. Shocked and panicked, Beth looks at Rio, obviously expressing how much she doesn't want to do it, but Rio isn't having a word of Beth's bullshit anymore. Their relationship has meandered beyond complexities and right now, it's a do or die type of situation for Beth and the titular trio.

So obviously, she might have to cave in and do whatever it takes to get on Rio's good books, and after transporting fugitives, being a hitman doesn't sound all that far fetched a command, honestly.

In another scene from the clip, Annie talks something about Beth checking her Facebook, to which Beth responds with snark, about how a hitman would totally approach her on social media. Annie hits back along the lines of how Beth is totally well versed in the ways of a hitman and this confuses things a little. Is Beth hiring a hitman to do the job Rio gave her? Would she really complicate things further by bringing another person into the scene, especially right after what happened to Lucy? Maybe.

Beth does seem desperate enough to do whatever it takes to protect those she loves from Rio's menacing paybacks, so what harm could a hired hitman do?

Unless... they are hiring a hitman to kill Rio, in which case Beth really couldn't be any more stupid.

Rio is pretty much the ring leader of all things sinister and malicious in their vicinity so why Beth thinks she can hoodwink him and hire a hitman is completely beyond reason at this point. But maybe that desperation is offering her unrealistic smidgens of hope where she thinks she can get away with trying to kill Rio as if she didn't totally fail at it despite shooting him thrice the last time she tried to kill him. Unbeknownst to Beth, the police have already gotten a whiff of that nail polish varnish they use in the formula for their fake money, so either way, her days are most likely numbered. Tragic.

'Good Girls' Season 3 airs Sundays at 10 PM only on NBC.
