'Good Girls' Season 3 Episode 8 Preview: What will Beth do to get into Rio's good books?
After the otherworldly shocking reminder of Rio's (Manny Montana) ruthlessness that was Lucy's death, Beth Boland (Christina Hendricks) still didn't seem to realize the harm she is posing on those close to her. Even after Ruby Hill (Retta) got shot in the leg and her husband Stan gave Beth an earful, Beth's stance was still unwavering until she and her family returned home to an empty house with all their furniture, appliances and belongings gone.
There was a single note left for her on the kitchen countertop that read "don't steal from me again" and we know it was Rio's. But looks like Beth has further plans to trying and trick Rio into escaping his firm grip on their lives, or so hints the promotional video for Season 3 Episode 8 'Nana'.
The official synopsis provided by NBC reveals that "Beth agrees to pick up a mysterious package for Rio in order to get back in his good graces" and that's exactly what we see in the promo clip. Alongside a montage of Beth putting on her best makeup, she can be heard telling her sidekicks Ruby and little sister Annie Marks (Mae Whitman) that she'll do anything to get on his good books. The next scenes show her walking into a pub where Rio is already seated on a barstool, and he pretty much eyes her up and down, meaning that whole makeup stunt is working for Beth already.
We know there's a high chance that Rio is actually in love with Beth, which probably gives her the confidence to pull stunts like these, and as her husband, Dean Boland (Matthew Lillard) claims, "You don't kill what you love." So it doesn't really come as a surprise that Beth says in as many words that she will do anything, to which Rio responds with a smirk meaning there's only further to fall for the ringmaster of their little money laundering.
But what remains to be seen is the 'anything' that Beth has to do for Rio, particularly what exactly the mysterious package she is picking up for Rio contains. It could be drugs or just a bunch of loose, hard cash that neither of the ladies would be prepared for but will be a risky job for each of them because that's just how the twisted inner workings of Rio's mind function
The synopsis also teases that "just as Annie finds unexpected support from Josh, she receives devastating news about an old friend; Stan has a surprise for Ruby." Given Annie's little tryst with trying to seduce her therapist and him actively denying her advances, this doesn't look very promising either. But hey, at least she has the whole paramedic career option to consider so that's something to look forward to, even if Stan's surprise for Ruby isn't all that positive.
'Good Girls' Season 3 airs on Sundays at 10 pm only on NBC.
