Colorado girl, 12, dead and 11 others injured after 'stolen' car driven by impaired 15-year-old crashes
AURORA, COLORADO: A 12-year-old girl was killed in a crash in Aurora on Saturday, October 29 involving a stolen car being operated by a 15-year-old, the police said. 11 others including children and adults in the two vehicles were injured in the crash.
Authorities in a press release said that they were called to the two-vehicle collision at 7.16 pm on Saturday at the intersection of South Buckley Road and East Kent Drive. According to investigators, a 15-year-old was driving a Dodge Journey that had been reported stolen earlier in the day at a high rate of speed while traveling north on South Buckley when the teen driver collided with a Toyota Tacoma that was turning left onto East Kent from South Buckley's southbound direction, as per The US Sun. The 12-year-old's identity has not yet been made public by law enforcement.

The police further said that a 31-year-old male, woman, 29, boy, 3, and a 6-month-old girl, were in Tacoma. The four were transported to a nearby hospital, where police said the two adults were in grave condition. On the other hand, there were eight children inside the Dodge Journey at the time of the crash: a 12-year-old girl who was pronounced dead at the scene, three 15-year-old males, a 14-year-old and a 13-year-old girl, and a 16-year-old boy, according to investigators. The seven survivors were taken to a hospital "with various injuries, some life-threatening." The victims' identities have not yet been made public.
A warrant led to the arrest of the 15-year-old driver, who was not publicly identified since he is a minor. According to authorities, charges are still pending in connection with the collision, and it is thought that the driver's intoxication resulted in the collision.
On Saturday, October 29 evening, the South Buckley and East Kent intersection was shut down for a while as police looked into the collision. "The 15-year-old driver is currently in custody for an outstanding warrant. Additional charges relating to this crash are pending. The intersection was closed for a few hours so Traffic Investigators could collect evidence, photographs, and measurements. This investigation is ongoing, but it is believed that the driver was impaired and a contributing factor," the Aurora Police Department said. "Please contact the Aurora Police Traffic Section if you witnessed this crash or have dash-camera footage of the crash and have not yet spoken to investigators. Tipsters can anonymously report any information to Metro Denver Crime Stoppers and could be eligible for up to $2,000 reward," the department added.
