'Tweeting from the dead': Late Herman Cain's account spooks social media with anti-Biden post
The nation mourned the death of Herman Cain last month from health complications after testing positive for the novel coronavirus at age 74. However, the conservative luminary managed to stun his social media followers from beyond the grave - especially after his dormant Twitter account eerily shared a pro-Trump video from his eponymous website. Cain's account launched an attack on presumptive Democratic nominee Joe Biden and his recent running mate pick Sen. Kamala Harris. The former Republican presidential candidate died earlier this year after having been hospitalized due to respiratory problems.
Cain's Twitter account has been active since his July 30 death, sharing tributes and funeral service details in the meantime. However, a particular tweet on Wednesday caught the attention of netizens.
"Just in case you thought Biden's candidacy was going to be anything other than completely nuts, team Trump has released a new video," it read, followed by hashtags for both Biden and Harris, as well as a link to a video titled: "New Trump ad hammers Biden/Harris over Joe's endless array of racial gaffes."

The link also referred to a clash between Harris and Biden in an earlier Democratic primary debate where she confronted the former vice president over the subject of busing. Some Twitter users appeared to be aghast at the post, wondering why the tweet was shared despite Cain's passing. Others flagged the post citing the account's continued use.
Having said that, the posthumous tweet definitely spooked a number of blue checks on Twitter. While many considered it eerie, some were inspired to come up with their own political (and inappropriate) jokes.

Twitter DO NOT shut down the ghost of Herman Cain from tweeting until we find out if he has a message for us

So, let me get this straight. You think the Biden candidacy is going to be nuts and you're saying this FROM BEYOND THE GRAVE SINCE YOU DIED TWO WEEKS AGO https://t.co/ONCLj6fBxF

On top of Herman Cain's Twitter profile, a pinned tweet reads: "There is news from Cain HQ. The mission continues..."
It soon emerged that Cain's social media accounts are being run by his family. Dr. Melanie Cain Gallo, his daughter, explained in a post that she was continuing her father's political mission. "Hello. I’m Dr. Melanie Cain Gallo, and I am proud to say that Herman Cain was my dad," Gallo wrote. "He believed in using his voice to teach, enlighten, and give hope. It’s one of the ways he used this web site every day, and he wouldn’t have wanted that work to stop with his passing."
"We’ve decided here at Cain HQ that we will go on using this platform to share the information and ideas he believed in," the daughter continued. "He often talked about the site going on once he was ready to step away from it. We had hoped he could enjoy reading it in his retirement, but he made it clear he wanted it to go on."
The well-respected Tea Party activist reportedly came up with the name "The Cain Gang" with the tagline "because the mission continues." Those words are now emblazoned on a banner at the top of his website. "We are his team, and he'll always be our leader. He would have wanted us to do this," the post added. "And that's exactly what we're going to do."
Cain made waves in 2012 when he ran to be the Republican candidate for president. He would later become a co-chair for the Black Voices for Trump initiative. President Donald J. Trump, a longtime pal of Cain, described him as "a great friend" and "a Powerful Voice of Freedom and all that is good" after his demise.
