Gervonta Davis denies 'bulls***' claims that he hit woman with 'close hand-type slap'
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLORIDA: Boxing champion Gervonta Davis who was arrested for domestic violence on Tuesday, December 27, has spoken out about the allegations, saying, "I am not a monster". Just a day after the arrest, Davis defiantly debunked all the accusations that he hit a woman with a "close hand-type slap." In a now-deleted Instagram post, he captioned, "I NEVER PUT MY HANDS ON MY CHILD MOTHER NOR MY F***ING DAUGHTER ARE YOU F****** CRAZY!!"
Davis was arrested in Florida on a domestic violence charge after allegedly hitting a woman and leaving her with an abrasion on her lip, according to a Broward County Sheriff's Office incident report. He went on a rant in his lengthy Instagram statement. "I've been quiet for too long. I don't have media team, PR, good lawyer...spokesman nothing off that... that's the only reason I'm doing this now! Just to clear my name!" he wrote. "[I] have a f***ing helicopter flying over my house now as I write this because they look at this s*** as money to them and trying to get as much money as possible."

Davis also dismissed a recording of the victim's emergency call which has been released by TMZ, "He's going to kill me!... I need help, please! I'm trying to go home. I have my baby in the car, and he attacked me in front of the kid. And, now he's messing up my tires!"
He strongly rejected the allegations heard in the call. "They doing this for money to and also to destroy me!! I am not a monster," Davis said. "I have two beautiful daughters that have to grow up someday and see this bulls***!! They post this bulls*** world wide before anything!", he continued. "They even post a snippet of the police call which my child mother was crying on the phone because I wouldn't give her my truck! Y'all don't care if it true or false...he did or didn't...y'all just want to put it out there because it's beneficial to y'all businesses!"
According to Daily Mail, the name of the victim has not been listed in the incident report. However, it does mention that she and the WBA lightweight champion have a child together, although they do not live together. Davis remained in custody after Wednesday's hearing, where bail was set at $1,000. He faces a misdemeanor domestic violence charge of battery causing bodily harm.
Davis was set to defend his WBA lightweight title against Hector Garcia on January 7 in what was considered a tune-up bout ahead of a high-profile clash with long-time rival Ryan Garcia (23-0) in April. Both fights are now at risk now after the undefeated 28-year-old was arrested in Fort Lauderdale.
