Gerard Way, lead singer for post-hardcore rock band My Chemical Romance (often abbreviated to MCR), has shared four never-before-heard tracks on his SoundCloud. Along with the new music, the 42-year-old 'Famous Last Words' singer also shared a pic of his vocal cords on social media.

The four new songs are titled: 'Welcome to the Hotel', 'Success', 'Crate Amp' and 'Phoning It In'.

For those wondering why was the picture shared on his official handle, it was shared after getting a check-up done. In short, if your average joe attempted to sing like Way, they could easily damage their vocal cords if not properly trained, and Way's choice to get a check-up is certainly a sound one. Way's unique take on screamo vocals has always been paired with both melodic and roughly belted-out singing with a strong sense of urgency that's got fans scratching their heads over for years.

Way's vocal range has undoubtedly been a subject of debate since MCR's debut album, 'I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love', released in 2002. With music often resembling Queen anthems dipped in punk and alternative rock themes and visualized by cryptic horror imagery, My Chemical Romance never failed to get crowds chanting along at live shows.

In Way's Instagram post, he says, "Hey all, with all this uncertainty I just wanted to start uploading some unreleased stuff. Just so people can check it out and have something to listen to. Just felt like sharing (sic)". He continues, "I think I have a bunch of this stuff, as Doug and I have been recording little bits here and there over the years (sic)" adding, "Some of these, like Phoning It In, were things that I planned on releasing as singles, and I may still do that at some point when I finish them, but I figured why not (sic)". Doug McKean is the band's engineer who previously worked on the 2006 LP 'The Black Parade' and 2010's 'Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys'.

Way says, "It feels good to share. Who knows if some of this stuff would have ever come out?" before referring to his SoundCloud which he said, "I haven’t really used in ages" and spoke of a link to the "Covid-19 Response Fund".

In conclusion, he spoke about the vocal cord pic. "In case you are wondering, this is a picture of my vocal cords, from when I went to see the ear/nose/throat doc before embarking on this my chem journey, to make sure everything was in order", he explains before quoting the doctor who said, "It’s a little red, but looking good".

After an explanation of the new music which he is calling 'Distraction Or Despair', Way ended on a briefly hopeful note about the coronavirus, saying, "Hope everyone is safe and healthy. Rock on".

MCR is set to tour this 2020, starting in June and ending in October, with several dates being postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic.
