Georgia Tennant has expressed her frustration after Facebook removed a photograph of her breastfeeding her daughter Birdie. The 35-year-old actress slammed the social media platform as well as its founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg for sexualizing the image.

She took to Instagram on Wednesday, June 17, to name and shame the social site and called out Zuckerberg as she shared the black and image. “Facebook just removed this photo because it violated their policy on sexual images. Sort your s**t out @Zuck or I'll come round there and squirt you in the eye,” Tennant wrote in the caption as she ended the post with hashtags, like #Breastfeeding #ifyouthinkthisissexualitmaybeyouthatistheissue.

Fans of Tennant also supported her in her move as one wrote, “They’ll remove an innocent picture of breastfeeding but removing lies by politicians is beyond the pale. They do need to sort their shit out.” A second person commented, “Since when is feeding a baby sexual I don’t understand the virtual world sometimes smh”, while a third added: “This photo just shows one of the most natural things a woman’s body can do. Also one of the oldest things to ever exists. I definitely see nothing wrong with that! The issue is definitely them!”

According to reports, under Facebook’s policy, most breastfeeding pictures are allowed on the site as long as they don't show the nipple. It's not clear why Tennant's picture was removed as no nipple was visible.

On their Community Standards page, the site says: “Our Nudity Policies have become more nuanced over time. We understand that nudity can be shared for a variety of reasons, including as a form of protest, raise awareness about a cause, or for educational or medical reasons. Where such intent is clear, we make allowances for the content."

“For example, while we restrict some images of female breasts that include the nipple, we allow other images, including those depicting acts of protest, women actively engaged in breastfeeding and photos of post-mastectomy scarring. We also allow photographs of paintings, sculptures, and other art that depicts nude figures,” the statement adds.

Tennant’s Wednesday post comes a day after she urged her female fan followers to take a smear test in honor of Cervical Screening Awareness Week. On June 16, the ‘You, Me and Him’ star shared a throwback photo of her on Instagram where she was seen wearing a hospital gown. The photo was taken in 2018 when her doctors spotted early signs of cancer and managed to remove it before it could prove fatal. “Here I am on 22nd February 2018. Although ‘tis indeed a fetching look, if you’d like to learn more about why you should never miss a smear test please read the story attached in bio.#cervicalscreeningawarenessweek #smeartest #cervicalcancer,” Tennant wrote in the caption.

In her personal blog post, the link of which Tennant provided in her Instagram bio, she has given a very detailed description of her experience. “It was cancer. They've got it all but it was cancer. Survived cancer without ever realizing I had it. As you can tell I’m still processing this, it's quite a thing to get your head around,” Tennant wrote in the blog which was originally published in 2018.
