The officials have identified the suspects as Jacqueze Grier, 23, Taneaious McCune, 18, Telvin Thomas, 30, and a 15-year-old boy. The homeowner's identity has not been disclosed by the officials. Police said that several other people were detained with the help of SWAT officers, who were present in the area, according to FOX 5.
Following further investigation, it was revealed that the suspects were attempting to enter a home, but got involved in a shootout with a man who lives with four other family members. "Our initial investigation indicates this was a targeted incident and not a random act," police said according to ABC, adding, “The four subjects attempted a home invasion.” Authorities reportedly don't expect to file charges and that the shooting appeared to be justified. However, they have taken the suspects into custody and have filed murder charges against the two adults.
Speaking about the incident, Donna Grier, who identified herself as the aunt of two suspects, said that she couldn't believe what she was hearing when her daughter called her with the news. "I'm not doing well at all, at all. All I know is they got shot," she told FOX 5.
Courtney Cheeks, who is renting a home near where the incident happened, said that she wasn't sure what she was hearing at first. "I didn't even think they were gunshots. I thought they were fireworks because there were so many. It's very disturbing to see that," Cheeks told FOX 5.
This horrific incident has been reported just days after a 17-year-old in Channelview, Texas, shot at three men wearing masks who forced their way into his home. The teenager used a shotgun and subsequently two of the men were killed.
