COBB COUNTY, GEORGIA: A staff member of an elementary school was arrested after it was found that he allegedly hid a camera inside a students’ bathroom. Justin C Julian was taken into custody on Sunday, January 30, and has been charged with three counts of felony eavesdropping-surveillance and one count of first-degree child cruelty. He has been put behind bars at the Cobb County Jail and the bond is set at $15,000.

In which department Julian was posted at Blackwell Elementary School in Cobb County, Georgia, is not known yet. Three students – two 10-year-olds and one eight-year-old – have specifically accused the employee of turning into a peeping Tom. As per reports, one of the boys was left “distraught” by the suspect's action and he immediately reported him to the school authorities.

In a statement issued to outlets, the Cobb County School District said: “As soon as the administration discovered the issue, they immediately reported it to police and are fully cooperating with the investigation. The allegations against a school employee are abhorrent, totally unacceptable, and violate our employee code of conduct. The employee has been arrested, and all applicable laws and district policies will be strongly enforced in every possible way. We ask the community to continue to join us to make sure our schools are safe by reporting any safety concerns to the District’s Tipline via call, text, or email.”

The Blackwell Elementary School also reportedly sent a letter to parents notifying them all that Julian was no longer allowed inside the school’s premises. It read, “Recently, we learned that one of our staff members might have been involved in illegal activity that violated our district’s policies and our community’s trust. As soon as our school learned of the allegations, we reported them to the local authorities and worked closely with them throughout the investigation. Earlier today, that staff member was charged with a crime and is no longer allowed in our school building. Due to the nature of the allegations and the ongoing criminal investigation, we cannot divulge any more information.”

In another incident that happened in November last year, a 41-year-old New York City teacher was arrested for allegedly kissing a 13-year-old boy on the lips at school. Michael D’Anna apparently behaved inappropriately with the unnamed student at PS/IS 30 Mary White Ovington in the Bay Ridge area at around 8 am at 7002 4th Ave, the NYPD said. The assistant principal reportedly witnessed the incident and soon called the police.

D’Anna, a tenured teacher working with the city’s Department of Education (DOE) since 2009 for over two decades, was then taken into custody and charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child and sexual abuse. A spokesperson for DOE Katie O’Hanlon said, “The school immediately reported this deeply concerning allegation, and this individual has been removed from the school while we follow the necessary steps to pursue termination. The safety of our students is our top priority, and we are cooperating fully with the police department to assist with the investigation.”
