‘They wanted to kill me’: Police plead for help as gay artist recounts night of horrifying assault by gang of thugs

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA: In a horrific case of hate crime, a young gay artist was brutally beaten by a gang of five thugs outside Universal nightclub on Sydney's Oxford Street. The unfortunate incident took place on June 26 at 4 am. The gay artist identified as Aaron was rushed to the hospital where he woke up not knowing where he was.
According to a report by the Daily Mail, the 33-year-old was severely bloodied with a broken nose and his eyes swollen shut. NSW Police, as per the publication, has launched a public appeal to help them track down the gang responsible for the apparent homophobic crime. The cops released a bunch of CCTV images of the five wanted for the crime. A GoFundMe page since the incident has been set up by someone close to Aaron asking people to help with the medical bills as he already had surgeries worth $10K.

‘They wanted to kill me’
Speaking to 9News, Aaron shared his terrifying ordeal saying the gang of five chased him down the street after hurling gay slurs. “They wanted to kill me, literally. They stomped on my head and were punching me in the face, kicking me on the ground when I was unconscious”, said Aaron.
He further revealed, “The guy who talked to me called me a f****t. I knew he wanted to fight. I tried to cross the road, they chased me, and the rest I don't remember. I woke up in hospital, covered in blood. I panicked, screaming, not knowing where I was.” The gay artist further told the portal, “Violence will never be the answer. These guys need to know there are consequences” concluding, “I'm grateful to be alive, but no one should have to go through this.”
‘What happened to our victim is sickening’
NSW Police, according to Nine News, released a few images of the group of men concerning the attack. Detective Inspector Joel Best shared his bit on the incident saying, “What happened to our victim is sickening” adding, “Everyone should be free to go out with their friends and not fear being assaulted or beaten up."
According to the Daily Mail, Aaron shared a few images of his on Instagram showing him in a bad state after the incident. He revealed that suffered a serious concussion due to the inflammation around his brain and ears. Aaron wrote, “I hold my hand on my heart when I say I wouldn't wish this on anyone to go through, I've wanted to hide and this is so big for me to share, it's taken a lot of energy, building up the strength to post and pray the public, can bring justice in a healthy/moral manner.”
He added, “I'II have a $10,000 dental bill, am having ongoing physio/chiro, counseling, doctor appointments, and dentist as result of being victim of hate crime” concluding, “Please help, share and repost this post so I and others can put a stop to this unnecessary violence!”
