Friends force Putin's mistress Alina Kabaeva to PERSUADE him to end Ukraine war
Russian President Vladimir Putin's rumored mistress, Alina Kabaeva is under pressure from friends to persuade him to end Russia's unjustified and increasingly violent invasion of Ukraine. Putin divorced his first wife, Lyudmila Ocheretnaya, in 2014, but he has been adamant about keeping his personal life private, referring to the press as ‘prying.’ Although he is said to be the father of four children with the former Olympic gold medallist, Putin's personal life has long been shrouded in secrecy.
Kabaeva, dubbed 'Eva Braun', is reported to be hiding in Switzerland with the couple's children in a tightly secured facility and to have numerous passports under different names. Kabaeva is a world-class rhythmic gymnast who has also hosted a television talk show and served in Russia's parliament for six years as a pro-Kremlin member. She earned a gold medal in the 2004 Olympics and served as the Russian flag carrier at the Sochi Winter Olympics. She has also bagged 14 World Championship gold and 21 European Championship medals in the sport, however, there has been mounting demand to remove her of those honors due to her apparent ties to Putin.

Now, according to a new report by Page Six citing unnamed friends of Kabaeva's, says her social circle has been begging her to return to Russia to try to end the war, a journey which she has reportedly said might be impossible because of how heavy the security around Putin can be. According to BBC, after losing billions of dollars in the three weeks that the war has been going on, the Russian oligarchs trapped overseas and under more stringent international sanctions seem to have started urging Putin to end the conflict. Given her claimed strong links to Putin, Kabaeva's participation may carry greater weight. However, some Russian observers believe that Kabaeva's attempt to lobby for Ukraine is likely just a fake news story orchestrated by her in response to a growing public outcry over a petition branding her a war criminal. The petition, which has gathered over 50,000 signatures so far, requests the Swiss authorities to exclude her from the country.
According to New York Times, Putin indicated last Wednesday, on March 16, that he was on the lookout for any Russians who could try to sway his war effort. The Kremlin views 'those who earn their money here, but live over there' as a 'fifth column' that will be actively employed to 'divide our society,' he claimed. "I do not judge those with villas in Miami or the French Riviera. Or who can't get by without oysters or foie gras or so-called 'gender freedoms.' The problem is they mentally exist there, and not here, with our people, with Russia," he stated. He also added, "the West will try to bet on the so-called fifth column, on traitors ... to divide our society.. to provoke civil confrontation... to strive to achieve its aim. And there is one aim, the destruction of Russia."
