Francis Ngannou opens up to Joe Rogan about Tyson Fury fight: 'Figuring out how to cut the ring'
AUSTIN, TEXAS: In a conversation with Joe Rogan, former UFC fighter Francis Ngannou shared his thoughts on the Tyson Fury fight, expressing the challenge of envisioning it due to Fury's unpredictable nature.
Despite being an exhibition contest, the bout is highly anticipated and stands out as one of the most awaited fights of the year.
Before making a permanent departure from the UFC, Francis Ngannou held the heavyweight championship, making him well-acquainted with the intense nature of combat sports.
However, given that "The Predator" is still relatively new to boxing, it will prove to be extremely challenging for him to compete against the top players in the league.
Francis Ngannou's take on the match
Francis Ngannou's enthusiasm to fight underscores his confidence in facing Tyson Fury. The boxer from France and Cameroon has asserted that, even against Fury, he will not back down.
Ngannou has enlisted Mike Tyson in his quest to comprehend the fundamentals of boxing.
He recently engaged in conversation with Joe Rogan on his podcast, 'The JRE MMA Show' #146. Ngannou and Rogan discussed Ngannou's impending bout in great detail. Rogan questioned Ngannou about his strategy throughout their talk.
"Without giving away too much of your strategy, how do you envision this fight taking place? Like what? You’ve never boxed a heavyweight like him before you obviously have tremendous skills and power. How do you envision this fight taking place?", Rogan asked.
In response, Ngannou said that because Fury is unpredictable, it's kind of hard to see the battle.
“Well, it’s very hard to envision, you know. Sometimes I visualize the fight. Me there in the ring. I suppose I’m going to be in the blue corner, waiting for him to get in the ring,” said Ngannou.
He added, "He knows all this. He knows the size of the ring. He’s been there; he knows all the corners, how to move, how to cut everything. And I’m going to be there, figuring out how to cut the ring, you know."
"It’s really hard. I think I’ll just focus on being composed, you know. Don’t think about so much stuff. And I would like to knock out,” Ngannou concluded.
Boxing legend Mike Tyson in favor of Francis Ngannou
Francis Ngannou is being trained by Mike Tyson to become an experienced fighter. With "The baddest man on the planet" at his side, the camp exudes a positive vibe.
Tyson has been pleasantly surprised by Ngannou's abilities. Tyson claims the "predator" has outperformed everyone by exhibiting extraordinary skills.
"I am helping Ngannou. I am learning what he is able to do. He’s able to do so much more than I anticipated," Tyson said.
Tyson went on to say that Ngannou is so skilled in combat sports that he can easily defeat anyone.
