Season 17 of 'So You Think You Can Dance' is already facing some challenges with the primary one being the dissatisfaction from longtime viewers, who aren't liking the new format of the dance reality show.

On the other hand, most of the performances so far have won over fans, with the most recent ones being that of Armando "Decoy" Munez, Essence Wilmington, Camila Schwarz, and Waverly Fredericks. The show, however, has had its fair share of controversies in the past, and has been struck by one yet again! This time around it's Matthew Morrison, who has stirred the pot by sending "flirty direct messages" to a contestant. While an investigation revealed that they "didn't have sex" or meet off the set, it was confirmed that the messages had "crossed the line," making the contestant feel "uncomfortable," who in turn got the producers and Fox involved.

'SYTYCD' Season 17: Fans speculate Camila Schwarz is the 'girl Matthew dm’d'

Fans were quick to weigh in on the controversy, hoping the showrunners would bring Nigel Lythgoe back and making comparisons to Matthew's character on 'Glee.' "With Matthew Morrison fired as a judge, I really hope they bring back Nigel Lythgoe as a replacement for Morrison once the live voting shows start (as long as Lythgoe's willing to do it & doesn't have any scheduling conflicts)! #SYTYCD," a fan tweeted. "I hope Matthew’s replacement is Nigel, since he should’ve returned to judge this season in the first place #SYTYCD," shared another.

"Matthew Morrison getting fired from So You Think You Can Dance for being creepy with a contestant is just another example of the lines between him and Mr. Schue continuing to be blurred. Oh and naturally he sang international creeper song Blurred Lines on Glee. #SYTYCD #Glee," a fan opined. Another seconded, tweeting "Matthew Morrison has been fired from #SYTYCD. Apparently he was super creepy in real life as he was in “Glee”. He will be seen on the show until Mid June."

Some even started to look at him differently, tweeting, "Did I just never realize how creepy Matthew Morrison is until tonight, as I try to figure out which contestant he DM'd inappropriately... and find EVERY thing he says to EVERY girl is making me uncomfortable to watch? #SYTYCD."

'So You Think You Can Dance' Season 17 airs Wednesdays at 9 pm ET/PT.
