Who is Richard Ravitch? NY ex-LG says Andrew Cuomo is 'not a nice person' and 'doesn't have any friends'
It has been a dramatic fall from grace for New York Governor Andrew Cuomo this year and each day, more voices are coming out in the open targeting him. The Democratic leader has found himself embattled over two serious issues -- hiding the number of Covid-19-related deaths in nursing homes and multiple allegations of sexual harassment. The matter has turned worse for him as even his own party colleagues have joined the protest against him. Former New York Democratic lieutenant governor Richard Ravitch has also spoken out against Cuomo recently saying the latter is “not a nice person” who “doesn’t have any friends”.
Ravitch, 87, recently spoke with The New York Times over Cuomo’s challenges after the majority of the NY Democratic congressional delegation called for the governor’s resignation in the wake of the twin scandals. Ravitch then said that the problem of the 63-year-old Cuomo is that “no one has ever liked him”. He also said neither Cuomo is a nice person nor does he have any real friends.

However, Ravitch’s words found reflection in those of New York State Senator Alessandra Biaggi who also told the NYT that she has not “met a person yet in New York politics who has a good relationship with Andrew Cuomo”. The 34-year-old Democrat, who had worked in Cuomo’s administration in the past and is an outspoken critic of him, added: “And I’m not saying ‘close relationship,’ I’m saying ‘good relationship.’ Even people who are close to him I cannot say in good faith have a good relationship with him.”

President Joe Biden said in an exclusive interview with ABC News’s George Stephanopoulos on Tuesday, March 16, that Cuomo should quit if the investigation confirms that he indeed committed the sexual harassment.
"I know you said you want the investigation to continue," Stephanopoulos told Biden, referring to a probe by New York's attorney general into the sexual harassment allegations against Cuomo. "If the investigation confirms the claims of the women, should he resign?" the host asked the president, to which he said: “Yes. I think he’ll probably end up being prosecuted too”.
