LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: A former beauty queen, who represented Iraq in the Miss Universe pageant and worked as a translator for the US military during the Gulf War, is reportedly planning to run for Congress in California. Sarah Idan, 33, claims she is looking to do a battle against the woke Democrats, who she believes have turned the country upside down.

“There’s a voice missing. There’s the immigrant who f—ing suffered and came here and lived the American dream,” Idan, who describes herself as a feminist and human rights activist, said this week on the 20th anniversary of the Iraq War, according to New York Post. The political neophyte said she is yet to file paperwork with the Federal Election Commission. She has time and again denounced radical left Democrats including Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar for her comments on Jewish people and Israel.

"I don't stand for your anti-American, antisemitic, Muslim Brotherhood agenda, using this democracy to further your…Islamic socialism goals of dividing and weakening our country," Idan tweeted in 2019, according to Daily Mail. She said, "I would just be the opposite of Ilhan Omar. I'm a Democrat and liberal, but I don't think like you – I don't hate this country." Iden has also voiced her displeasure with what she perceives as the party's fixation with so-called "white privilege" and its unwillingness to address issues of public safety and the growing crime rate in Los Angeles.

Who is Sarah Idan?

Idan was born in Baghdad in 1990 and was the second youngest of five children. Although her father was a military engineer for Saddam Hussein's Ba'ath Party, her family’s opinions never aligned with those of the organization. She recently described how the family had "lived as hostages under Saddam," fearing being accused of "disloyalty," and mentioned how there had been restricted access to food, water, and power under the ruthless tyrant. "We couldn't say anything against him. I learned everything I was taught by Saddam was a lie," she told the New York Post.

After turning 18, Idan began volunteering as an interpreter for the US Army in Iraq. Two years later, she left her family in Iraq behind for America and became a US citizen in 2015. Idan, as a dual citizen, represented Iraq in the 2017 Miss Universe pageant after the nation’s 45-year absence from the competition. However, she later even faced death threats after she befriended and snapped a selfie with Miss Israel.

‘My soul is American’

Idan believes her challenging childhood has given her a special perspective on the American Dream. She said, "they hate when I say anything good about this country when I say I love it and have rights here". "They want to hear you say, 'No, this is a horrible country, a horrible government, and we have no rights."' she further stated. Idan is now considering a candidature for Congress in an effort to silence the "crazy far left and woke voices" inside the Democratic party. "We need fresh people in the office to take out the communists. I may have been born in Iraq, but my soul is American." She said.
