Thanksgiving is in the air and nothing defines the holiday mood better than holiday-special food. At ‘Chopped Junior’, the new Season started with fall-special recipes, where junior chefs proved their culinary mettle with the most unique and strange ingredients from the mystery basket. Episode 2 took the idea a step ahead and challenged four children to reuse and improvise on Thanksgiving leftovers.

As the kids started to explore their cooking skills and came up with beautiful dishes, one after the other, the fans couldn’t help but get emotional at their dedication, talent, and the passion that they put into every dish. In the words of @hillygaums, “Chopped Junior is the most pure thing I’ve ever seen in my life omg.” And we couldn’t agree more. As @NASCAR1283 also joins in, “These Chopped Junior shows are impressive, they are really talented.

Some fans @IAmTheVerheygot so swept with their children’s creativity that they didn’t know how to react. “Chopped Junior makes me have so many mixed emotions. 1) It's pretty cool they love to cook and are pretty good at it. 2) I'll never compete with those little turds.”

It is indeed delightful to see children doing something different than mainstream and using their instincts, skills, and power of observation to create magic in the kitchen.

Every one of the four contestants presented their best culinary ideas in every round. But the star of the evening was 12-year-old Owen Roloston, from New York, who owned the kitchen and impressed the judges with his ingenuity and impressive take on traditional recipes. From the appetizer to the entrée and dessert, Owen proved that he has the ability to create and recreate classics using his creativity. Using Indian spices in turkey fritters or making ice cream out of sweet potato casserole were some of the things that the judges loved about him. Most importantly, his presentation ideas and time management took him all the way to the winning spot.

Fans like @IHeartChadMM87were floored with Owen’s dessert and rightly so. “I’m glad that Owen won for his dessert on #ChoppedJunior.”

Stay tuned as more young chefs come forward in the future episodes and present their culinary brilliance! ‘Chopped Junior’ Season 9 airs every Tuesday, 9 pm/8c only on Food Network.
