Floyd Mayweather 'almost killed' late ex Josie Harris for seeing another man: 'He wanted to teach me a lesson'
Floyd Mayweather's ex-girlfriend Josie Harris was reportedly writing a book before she was found dead outside her Valencia, California, home on Monday, March 9. An extract of the unpublished book has revealed Mayweather and Harris's troubled relationship and the accounts of physical abuse she suffered at the hands of the boxer when they were together, reports The Sun.
The extract was shared by a concerned friend who believes "Josie deserves to have her voice heard, now more than ever".
The unpublished book revealed that the late 40-year-old aspiring actress met Mayweather when she was just 16 in 1995 at a bowling alley in Las Vegas before he was famous, and how he later became violent with her.
The most disturbing one was an incident from 2010 when the 43-year-old multi-millionaire star "almost killed" her after violently beating her as their kids - Jirah, Zion and Koraun - then aged 7, 9 and 11 looked on.
In the book, Harris has jotted down the horrific details, alleging Mayweather grabbed her by the hair while she was still sleeping, and dragged her around the room of her home in Las Vegas "like a rag doll" before hitting her repeatedly in the head, screaming: "I’ll f**king kill you".
“My eyes flew open to the sound of my own screams. Pain was searing through my skull when I looked up and saw Floyd. He was holding the back of my hair, standing over me with one hand, punching the back of my head with the other… dragging me off the sofa and pulling me across the room,” Harris wrote.
“Furniture in the living room was falling as he pulled me like a rag doll,” she said, adding Mayweather accused her of seeing another man called "CJ" and spending his money on him. The book also claimed that the vicious attack happened in front of their kids who kept begging their father to stop, and one of his friends, who allegedly did nothing to stop the boxer.
Harris also said in the book that she begged Mayweather to listen to their children. “You’re doing this in front of your kids...I shuddered at the agonizing pain I felt in my head and screamed again until he let me go…
“Before I could say anything Floyd again tightened his grip on my hair and beat the back of my head. He was determined to teach me a lesson. I could see it in his eyes. But, I knew I couldn’t lay down, so I fought back," she added.
The book, it is not clear if Harris managed to finish writing it before her death, also alleges that she asked her kids to get help from the security before they were stopped by the friend present. However, their son Koraun, then aged 11, somehow managed to get help from the security, who called 911, while Mayweather fled in his car.
Harris was “unable to respond much when the paramedics asked questions as I lay on the gurney”, the book written by her alleges. Mayweather served two months behind bars after he was convicted for attacking Harris and the pair split up.
Harris and Mayweather were in the middle of a $20 million suit at the time of her tragic death. She had sued the boxing icon for calling her a drug abuser. The case was ongoing at the time of her unexpected death.
Investigators have termed the tragedy as death on not finding anything suspicious. The law enforcement sources have established that “no evidence of drugs or suicide at the scene” was found.
