Jill Biden's hearts on White House lawn called 'tacky' by Internet: 'I’d rather have Melania’s red Christmas'
FLOTUS Jill Biden received bouquets and brickbats in equal measure for helping decorate the North Lawn of the White House for Valentine's Day. There were candy-heart messages that were installed so as to bring the message of hope and healing for the people of the country. That wasn't all, as President Joe Biden and the first lady went about for a walk in the midst of the pink, red and white signs that had the words "Hope", "Compassion" and "Healing" written on each of the hearts.
The couple was accompanied by their dogs, Champ and Major. A USA Today report said they were wearing masks and chatted with a bunch of reporters. Biden was seen in a pair of jeans and a black leather jacket with the Presidential badge and was holding a coffee cup. In their chat, he said Valentine's Day was a favorite of his wife and joked about who loves each other more.

And as "aww-inducing" the moment was to people on Twitter, some sections were not really in favor of the gesture. "The Jill Biden Valentine's Day decorations are tacky as hell, completely insane ("HEALING" on a giant heart??? in the lawn????), and my personal nightmare, and yet I find myself profoundly relieved that the list of insane things is short enough that I can pay attention to this," read a tweet.
This was seconded by a few more netizens. "Can we talk about how joe Biden was holding a cup of coffee - never drank from it - and then just handed it off to a reporter? He held it for a while and just......never had any?" read one of the comments. "Why "completely insane"? They are not my thing, at all. But I am not your average American. I would guess that most Americans like Valentine's Day (I think it's stupid), have taste that I would consider tacky, and they like Jill Biden's hearts on the lawn with tacky, sweet words." wrote one of the people.
"It’s almost a year later and we’re seperated from our binational partner with no answers, no hope in sight. When will the day be brightened for us? This Valentine’s will be nothing for us. #LoveIsNotTourism" one of the tweets read. "Disregarding good and evil, in terms of taste, I’d rather have Melania’s blood red Christmas trees than Jill Biden’s tacky valentines hearts," said a comment.

Jill's office issued a statement to USA Today that said: "As you may know, the first lady is known for her sense of humor, love of surprises, and celebrating traditions, especially with her family," the statement said. "Valentine’s Day has always been one of her favorite holidays. Sending messages of healing, unity, hope, and compassion, this is her Valentine to the country." During the informal chat, the Bidens recalled the time during his vice presidency when she decorated a window in his White House office with a drawn heart that read, "Joe loves Jill." He added: "Not Jill loves Joe."
