In a shocking incident from Pembroke Pines, Florida, an elementary school teacher was found unconscious and injured after a 5-year-old student attacked her in the classroom. It is believed that the youngster was joined by a few of her classmates, all aged between 4 and 5 years, in punching, kicking, and throwing objects at the teacher.

The alleged assault took place around 10 am on Wednesday, March 2, 2022, in the "cool down" room at the school. According to police reports, the teacher started coughing badly and dry heaving after the attack, and soon fell unconscious. She was also sitting on the ground feeling "weak and dazed". By the time paramedics arrived at the school, they found her unresponsive. The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was stretchered out of the classroom and admitted to the Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood, Florida.

The incident occurred at Pines Lakes Elementary School in Broward School District, where the teacher was attacked by pupils who threw objects and flipped chairs in the classroom. It remains unclear what exactly triggered the attack and sent the youngsters into a violent rage. The five-year-old student, who started the attack, might face charges of aggravated assault and battery with hands, fists, and feet.

Fire rescue workers responded to the emergency at 10300 Johnson Street, as police officials followed soon after. The responding cop found the teacher "sitting on the ground against the wall, on the northside of the room, appearing to be in a faint state. [She] continued to blink and breathe regularly, but at no point was able to vocally respond or show signs of a response.”

According to the police report, “The incident began when two students in the classroom, 4 and 5 years old, began throwing things around the classroom and at the teachers along with flipping the chairs.”

Amanda Colwell, the spokesperson for Pembroke Pines police, told Miami Herald, "No weapon or object was involved in the battery." She also added that the victim was conscious and cooperating with the police in the investigation. The traumatic incident is being probed as an "active criminal investigation". However, there have not been any arrests or charges so far due to the ages of the children involved.

A parent whose child attends the Pines Lakes Elementary School expressed their shock at the incident. "We’re talking about an elementary classroom, a four and a five-year-old, that’s crazy....because you continuously get this from one student, one, two students, it’s an issue.”

Another parent wished a speedy recovery to the teacher, saying, "She is a sweet teacher. When I say I trust this woman with my child, that’s a second mom. I trust her with my child — amazing woman, and it has me distraught that something like this could happen to her.”
