Mother proudly defends her kindergarten son who punched a bully hard for terrorizing a much smaller child

'I don’t teach solving problems with fists and I believe in alerting an adult if possible. However, sometimes it’s not possible. In that case, if they feel like they or someone is being harmed it’s ok to stand for what’s right," the mother reasoned.

Katie Bryant has shared the story of how her brave son came to the rescue of a classmate who was being bullied by a much bigger kid.

The proud mother-of-three, 31, of North Carolina, revealed in a post on Love What Matters how she had gone to pick up her son from a kindergarten science class when she saw a child crying on one side. Meanwhile, the teacher was crouched next to her son and the alleged victim, asking him something.

When the mother approached her son, she figured the right questions were not being asked. “Did you hit him?” the teacher asked Bryant's son, before she intervened and asked him for a detailed account of the events.

According to him, the kids were sent to the bathroom. The teacher added that students were sent in threes for their own safety. The bigger kid had allegedly started pushing the weaker, smaller kid, who weighed at least 30 pounds less than his attacker. Bryant's son went on, “He pushed him again and again, and I told him to stop!”

He said he could not leave the situation to summon help from a teacher, which would allow the smaller child to get hurt when he was gone. Seeing no alternative, he took it upon himself to handle the situation -- punching the bully really hard. "I watched the expressions change on the teacher’s faces. I think up until this moment they thought my child was the one who’s been bullying," Bryant recounted. "The parent of the bigger kid had arrived sometime during this talk. They were asking their son if what he said was true. He cried and said it was."

The bully had been upset about something that had happened in class, it was later revealed. And he had gone to the restroom to get some revenge, albeit the altercation resulted in him getting punched instead.

"I am aware I am going to get a slew of hate for this but let’s be honest, the internet makes people too comfortable with dishing out hate through a veil of anonymity and not getting punched in the face for it," the proud mother acknowledged.

"My child has full permission to rock your kid’s world if they are bullying them or someone else," she continued. "I don’t teach solving problems with fists and I believe in alerting an adult if possible. However, sometimes it’s not possible. In that case, if they feel like they or someone is being harmed it’s ok to stand for what’s right. It’s honorable to fight for the underdog. I do not apologize for teaching them to stand up for someone else."

"This broken world needs more people to stand for the oppressed," Bryant added.
