Jenni Berrios: Florida mom's son, 10, and daughter, 9, violently attacked on same school bus days apart
HOMESTEAD, FLORIDA: A shocking incident coming from Florida made headlines after a mother posted a video of her daughter being beaten up in a school bus by a bully. Jenni Berrios, claims that recently her son was attacked on the same bus and is appealing for justice. The family who had been struggling lately with their finances due to the loss of jobs had to spend days at a homeless shelter. The violent assaults on the two siblings within weeks have alarmed many citizens as the most recent one took place on February 1.
In the clip, that went viral a 15-year-old boy can be seen repeatedly punching the boy on his head, while fellow students at the Coconut Palm K-8 Academy in Homestead, Florida just watch the entire incident without trying to stop them. Regarding the tragic incidents the heartbroken mother said, “We have had to get my daughter another appointment with the concussion department, but it is a real struggle because they are booked for the year. She has had constant headaches and a lot of nausea. She is not herself and she is not sleeping a lot which could be linked back to the emotional trauma she has suffered.”

What happened after the incident took place?
Jenni added, “It's all very overwhelming. We are going into this situation from one where we were homeless, and we were finally able to get into a place and transition the kids into school. We have been there just a little more than a month, and this is just devastating. My husband has been forced to miss work and he doesn't get PTO but he obviously wants to be there for our kids.” The family had to set up GoFundMe in order to survive through their struggling days and are inching back towards attaining normalcy, as per DailyMail.
Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle announced on Wednesday, February 8, that school’s police officer giving the boy involved in attacking a civil citation was ‘not enough.’ Instead, she issued a criminal battery charge against the teenager in the juvenile courts. The images taken of her injuries will be presented of the nine-year-old girl, where red marks and bruises covered the skin on her torso and head.
'A lesson has to be learned'
Jenni said about the attack on her daughter, “As a mother, I feel for them. Their own child is facing charges, but a lesson has to be learned and responsibility has to be taken. My daughter has so much life left to live, for this to happen to her. Justice does need to be served because this happened to both of my children. We are hoping that people can learn a lesson from this worldwide.”
