Who is Alex Robertson?

However, this wasn't your typical Florida man escapade, as Robertson happens to be a firefighter, a former biologist and, as it turns out, a part-time python wrangler.

In a video capturing the daring incident, the Florida man fearlessly belly-flopped into the water, which was barely knee-deep.

Despite the unintentional belly flop, Robertson's mission was clear, to capture the giant python lurking in the waters.

Florida man wrestles a Python

The video reveals a python resting in the water, seemingly unaware of the impending confrontation.

Robertson suddenly swoops in from out of the frame and skillfully subdues the massive snake, pulling it out of the water with apparent ease.

What makes this extraordinary encounter even more unusual is the choice of soundtrack. Alan Jackson's 'Good Time' played in the background of the video.

As Robertson emerged from the water, clutching the python, he looks at the camera the camera. "First python of the night. Hopefully we'll find some more," he says with a grin.

Social media reacts to Alex Robertson's Python encounter

Robertson's elicited several responses, with some people commending his courage and others urging him to refrain from interfering with the python.

One user commented, "Pythons are an invasive species in Florida and they’re killing off many of the natural species so yes kill all the pythons you can."

Another said, "Leave them alone!!!!" A third wrote, "Florida. Mullet. Jumping in after a python. This story writes itself. Can't make this s**t up."

"$500 and got rid of an invasive species!!!! Win win," read another comment. Another wrote, "Australian citizenship test." A user wrote, "You’re a Beast man!!"
