FLORIDA, US: A Florida man went viral after his beach trench-digging session developed into an unmanageable flood and the police showed up. The video shows the unidentified Florida man working diligently to create a route between a canal and the sea on a Florida beach, first amusing onlookers.

The sight appeared to be a harmless activity with scores of onlookers surrounding him, with some even taking a plunge in the calm water flow. Summertime fun abruptly changed as the water flow accelerated and the trench became a raging torrent with crashing waves.

What did the Florida man do?

The Florida man spent hours excavating a trench - on all fours and wearing a floral swimsuit. The trench supposedly ran from the ocean to the far end of the beach, next to what seemed to be a sizable canal. After successfully connecting the two water bodies, he stood back and observed as the water started to flow.

The small trench eventually grew into a large, raging river that entirely cut off part of the beach, generating a potentially fatal tidal current. Eventually, the cops arrived to put an end to the fun. Though it doesn't show how they managed to cut off the water, the video's ending caption, "Cops shut it down," mentions the actions of the police.

'Unusual'

Dozens of people gathered around the man, filming him and paying close attention as the audience grew. A roaring flood suddenly developed as the water flow rapidly increased. On the video, it says, "Water finally broke." The French caption said, "Unusual: Americans dug a trench that became a raging stream on a Florida beach. The police had to intervene." As per Daily Mail, there were no reported injuries from the event, but it's not obvious how it was resolved.

While some viewers contend that these events happen every year and do not endanger the public, others are worried about the threats they may cause. One of the spectators commented, "They do this every year. This is water that accumulates upstream and would have flowed into the sea anyway. They were just having fun, speeding up the process. It's nothing alarming." While another condemned the act and said, "Oh my dear Lord ...... what a m***n .... why didn't they build a barricade to contain the canal ????"

'This man is living every boys dream'

Social media users, however, were amused by this Florida man's activity and lauded him as a superhero who "wears UNDERWEAR!!!" One Instagram user exclaimed, "Not all the superheroes wear caps...some only wear UNDERWEAR!!!" A second one wrote, "This man is living every boys dream." A third entertained social media user typed, "Bro did the thing in a few hours What nature does in a thousand years." Another quipped, "New river unlocked." Someone else exclaimed, "Florida man, doing florida man things" One more user joked, "Now kids have to study a new continent."
