Florence Pugh slams haters for 'horrid' comments on her relationship with Zach Braff, fans extend support
Celebrity couples are always on the receiving end of trolling and hate from social media users, especially if there is a wide age gap between them. Florence Pugh and Zach Braff came under the scanner after she dedicated a birthday tribute to him on his birthday this week.
In a video posted on Instagram, the actress said that she had received "horrid" and "hateful" comments about her relationship. Pugh said "70 percent of the comments [were] hurling abuse and being horrid."
Pugh added that she had to turn off the comments option on her Instagram page as the abuse got a little overwhelming. She added, "I will not allow that behavior on my page. I'm not about that. It makes me upset."
"It makes me sad that during this time when we really all need to be together, we need to be supporting one another, we need to be loving one another. The world is aching and the world is dying and a few of you decided to bully for no reason," she shared.
She continued, "I'm 24-years-old. I have been working since I was 17-years-old. I have been earning money since I was 17-years-old. I became an adult when I was 18-years-old and I started paying taxes when I was 18-years-old."
"I do not need you to tell me who I should and should not love, and I would never in my life ever, ever tell someone who they can and cannot love. It is not your place. It has nothing to do with you," she added.
Fans have rushed to Pugh's defense and expressed their support on social media. One fan tweeted, "Florence Pugh and Zach Braff being a couple is just fine. Let them be."
"Don't tell Florence Pugh to stop dating Zach Braff, ask Zach Braff why he needs to date a woman 20 years younger than him, let alone a woman that has recently found fame in an industry he has been in for a really long time, it's called power imbalance," wrote another fan.
"Can you guys please stop bullying Florence Pugh about Zach Braff. Her cooking videos are literally the only thing keeping me going at this point and if she deletes her insta because of this I will d word," tweeted a fan.
"My heart is aching for Florence Pugh right now. All she did was post a birthday message for her boyfriend Zach Braff and it was met with immense bullying and cruel comments. She had to post a response video where she was nearly crying as she defended herself and him. People suck," wrote a fan.
Another fan asked, "Florence Pugh had to turn off her insta comments on a bday post she made for Zach Braff. Why can’t we just keep the jokes to ourselves and not turn them into demeaning attacks? Why do ppl always have to take things way too far."
"People are still giving Florence Pugh shit about her dating Zach Braff? Get a grip, people. She's a grown woman," tweeted a fan.
Another fan wrote, "I don't see why Florence Pugh is being bullied for dating Zach Braff? I’d totally date someone in their 40s. She's an adult, it's consensual. What’s the problem?"
One fan called it "misogyny". "So people were going onto Florence Pugh’s page to attack her relationship with Zach Braff. Whether I agree with someone older dating someone much younger, it’s none of my business and why are you attacking HER? Misogyny is something else."
This is not the first time the actress has been trolled for her relationship with Braff. Here's what she did last time.
