'Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa' replaced the recently concluded show 'Christina on the Coast', which marked the designer and Tarek's ex-wife's debut as a solo host on HGTV. 'COTC' concluded last week and it was announced that airing in the same slot from the coming week would be four fresh episodes of 'Flipping' as part of Season 1 that originally started airing in the first quarter of 2020.

Christina and Tarek's relationship had attracted a lot of love and attention on social media when they were a couple and even though they've moved ahead in life, the audiences haven't. These four new episodes of the show are sort of a runup to the Season 9 premiere of their highly popular HGTV show 'Flip or Flop'.

The entire premise of 'Flipping' is Tarek helping first-time flippers by bestowing his knowledge on them about how it should be done in order to make profits. Tonight's (September 17) episode saw a distressed couple and novices being introduced to the flipping world — Patcy and Pino. They had tried their hand at the business and purchased three properties which they did flip but didn't make any money on it. When their third time at flipping a house for profit didn't turn out to be quite the charm, Patcy was ready to throw in the towel and move to doing something else. However, they took a final chance with a small property they purchased, located in Sylmar, California.

They had purchased the house for $375,000 and they enlisted the help of Tarek to help them in this journey. There were a number of issues in the house that needed fixing, including the crack in the slab right in the middle of the house, repairing which cost them $10,000. The couple had a lot of pressure from their family who they'd taken a loan from to start this business and everytime there was an unexpected cost, their frustrations would just go up a notch. However, at the end of it all, after the entire refurbishment, the house was listed for $689,900 and at the end of the episode, it was revealed that they'd made a profit of $151,000.

'Flipping 101 with Tarek El Moussa' returns Thursday at 9 pm on HGTV.
